Earlier today, we received confirmation that Microsoft is opening its doors for Windows Phone to enter India starting with these three smartphones: HTC Radar, Samsung Omnia W and Acer Allegro. If you’re still unaware, check out our preview for the Radar and Omnia W.
As expected, the characteristics of these phones tend to support those budgeted users perfect for Indian customers. Speaking of which, the Acer Allegro is by far the cheapest among the trio packing the latest Windows Phone 7.5 operating system giving this phone the ability to use IE9, improved widget / user interface and better social-media integration along with Skype functionality.
It sports a single-core 1GHz Snapdragon CPU with Adreno 205 for its GPU to further enhance its graphics; 512MB RAM, 8GB internal memory and a 5 megapixel camera that can shoot 720p (HD) videos and still images; however, this one lacks a front-facing cam so that means, no video-chats with your buddies.
Then again, this lack is mitigated as soon as you know it’ll be available for 20k rupees only equivalent to ($402) and you don’t need to pay any contract or data plan for this one. Except of course, a prepaid depending on your area. It’s also notable to say Allegro is similar with the W4 handset leaked a couple of months ago. If you’re interested, its release date should hit the country before the end of this year.
