Acer is set to release its newest netbook which is designed to cater to professionals who are always on the go. Referred to as a true road warrior, the TravelMate 8481 should do the job with top performance.
The TravelMate 8481 has a 14-inch Acer ComfyView LCD LED backlit display capable of bringing 1366×768 high-definition resolution with an aspect ratio of 16:9. It is also “ultra-thin” and “ultra-lightweight” as it measures 0.87 inches (highest point) and weighs just 1.5 kg respectively. Running things under the hood is Intel’s 2nd Generation Core processor while graphics is supported by Intel’s HD Graphics 3000 as well as NVIDIA’s Optimus technology for the discrete graphics option. With respect to memory storage, the netbook can accommodate either a hard disk drive (up to 320 GB) or a solid state drive (up to 64GB).
The TravelMate 8481 also boasts of its long battery life as this netbook can offer up to 9 hours of usage. Other features are multi-in-1 card reader, WiFi, Ethernet and USB 3.0 ports. In addition, it comes equipped with Acer’s DustDefender Technology which basically prevents dust accumulation inside the system thanks to the smart reversing mechanism in the cooling fan.
This netbook is priced at £699 in the UK with availability by late August. No word given yet on when it will hit US stores.
