We have recently made a startling revelation about Google’s flagship OS – Chrome OS a few weeks ago. Now, another surprising news came from Acer, a Taiwanese-based tech company. Apparently, Acer is planning to launch the first-ever Chrome OS netbook by second half of 2010. The Chrome OS netbook has been in development since Mid of 2009. Acer CEO, J.T. Wang is confident Acer will be the first company to launch the Chrome-based netbook in the market.
We’re quite skeptical over this news because Acer was also the first vendor to release Google Android-based netbook, Aspire One AOD250 – a dual-boot Android netbook. Unfortunately, the Android netbook had a lot of loopholes and overall, it didn’t perform well in sales.
However, things would probably be different this time (we hope) and it will be great to see an Asian Netbook manufacturer strive to bridge the competition gap by becoming an avant garde in Netbook technology.
