So Amazon has now launched a remake of the Kindle which is still named after the predecessor they just added 2 after it. I salute the remake of Kindle 2, now we know that Amazon knows how to listen and attend to consumers needs and wants though I would have to say it’s still not something I would say exemplary but if we would just compare this e-reader from the 1st one then I can say Amazon did quite a nice job.
Going further on how it performs and what you can get out of Kindle 2 it wouldn’t be so much actually but we give Amazon the credit of being one of the 1st to release such device, which makes me wonder why they haven’t gone that extra mile of going advance with their E-reader.
What I’m trying to say is that if you’re Amazon wouldn’t you exert an extra effort to fix the flaws and do major upgrades on your device (knowing that a lot of people will be waiting for it, why not right?) but sad to say Amazon didn’t do such move, though you may have heard that Amazon already has Kindle DX which is the latest (so that makes Kindle 2 a predecessor now) but then again there wasn’t any big change that was applied to DX other than the keypad and screen.
So what can I really say about the Kindle 2? It’s still ‘same old, same old’ but it’s not so bad since it has a few great features added to it that makes it not at par with the 1st gen of e-readers. Here’s the technical specification of Kindle 2 and how they complement the gadget.
- Kindle 2 has the synchronization feature that lets it connect to other Kindle device whether it’s old or new as long as it’s Kindle, so that means you can exchange books or data with another Kindle owner
- Read-to-Me also known as Text-to-Speech more likely in layman’s term ‘story teller’ so you can listen to the story rather than reading it. FYI: the voice will not be something thrilling about Kindle 2
- Instant Dictionary look-up via New Oxford American dictionary
- A 5-way joystick control for easy high-lighting and navigation
- 6 inch screen that has four times more hues than Kindle (that’s 16 shades of gray, honestly I didn’t know gray has this much shades
- 2GB internal memory which is approximately 1,500 books
Amazon Kindle will have more book in store for Kindle owners. They will be showcasing 230,000 books from top authors and best selling novels. Price tag is still at $359. Check out the hands-on video below to know more about Amazon Kindle 2.
