Previously, we gave you an insider report of how Amazon is planning to launch its own tablet this year, touted to be the real “iPad competitor” with hybrid features like the ones from Nook Color over a super cheap price, against its competitors.

As of today, DT from Taiwan reveals this leak may come out as something real, since Quanta Computer, a notebook manufacturer based in Taiwan, has recently received OEM orders from Amazon and its purpose was revealed to create a tablet PC. In addition to that, this ventureship will be supported by other companies in the country such as, E Ink Holdings for its touch panel / Fringe Field Switching technology provider, and makers of EPD (electrophoretic display).
Interestingly, it’s said that the device’s peak orders is expected to reach up to 700k-800k units and its shipping date is bound to arrive on the second half of 2011. Meaning, we should see an announcement of this “Amazon Tablet” before the end of this quarter (until June).
Later on, it was hinted that while Amazon Kindle has “strong sales” in different countries, the No.1 selling e-book reader finds it hard to cut through North America and Europe; and this is where the new Tablet PC will push itself, hoping to challenge even the current most-popular tablet in the world, the iPad 2.
