Advanced Micro Devices or AMD became popular lately when it buried the name ATI as part of its popular name and just recently it has been making noises again with its upcoming series of video graphic cards.
A slide revealing some details about two upcoming 40nm “Barts” chip has leaked from two independent sources online lately. These upcoming mid-end graphics card are the AMD Radeon HD 6750 (PRO) and the AMD Radeon HD 6770 (XT), which are both expected to become popular in the PC gaming market.

Basically, these two new cards utilize variants of the 40nm Barts chip and pretty much similar to Radeon’s previously released high-end cards in terms of performance. A spec comparison chart has also been released and basically shows comparative details regarding these upcoming graphics card chips.
Based on the said comparison chart, the HD 5870 has a little advantage, but of course, that slight edge definitely comes with a higher price. Whereas, the 6770 is expected to be offered at only $250, which is definitely lower than the $350- $400 price of the HD 5870, and has managed to beat the HD 5870 in some aspects as well.
On the other hand, the HD 6750 and the 5850 seem to have identical memory bandwidth and pixel fill rate. It also has a GPU of 725MHz and its memory clocked at 1,000 MHz. Whereas the HD 6770 operates at a full 900MHz for the Barts XT chip and 1,050 for the GDDR5 VRAM.
Other features include:
- 280 (x4) and 320 (x4) stream processors
- 56 and 64 texture units
- Texture fill rates of 40.6 GTexel/s and 57.6 Gtexel/s
Basically, these two new graphics card will come with more ROPs, texture units and higher clock frequencies as compared with previously released graphics card series.
Please take note that all these details given are only based on leaked details and not official information from the manufacturer. It has not been confirmed by AMD in any way. But if all these details are true enough, then they might be giving NVIDIA some tough competition as they enter the PC gaming world. As we get closer to its product launch, which is expected to happen on October 13, we may expect some more details to come.
