USB drives are commonly offered in two variants, either in one big drive for maximum data storage or in several drives to sort data in an orderly fashion.

A hybrid type of USB has come out of the open which offers to combine the features into one. The Amoeba Modular USB Flash Drive is designed by Hunsoo Soong which allows a user to sort data either on one large drive, or on individual drives with distinct storage feature. It works by keeping the drives intact and detach only a portion that is needed containing separate files, such as videos and photos, different from the others. It also features a category-based partition to store files in respective categories.
The unique flash drive avoids the possibility of sharing confidential files when a user loans a USB stick to an innocent but curious borrower. Sensitive files such as photos and documents are therefore secured with the flash drive, and protected from accidental deletions and file corruptions. Experience of deletions and unauthorized access to confidential files normally occurs if a user fails to provide a security feature within the USB. Others blame it to man’s unreliable memory.
Amoeba Modular USB Flash Drive prevents that situation from happening again by allowing a user to unhook the “Private” segment portion in order to restrict access to the files. Availability is still far from reality. Stay tuned.
