Android has 20,000 application, instead 16,000 only: What’s the fuzz?

Rumor has it that Android has increased its 10k application by 20k! For those who doesn’t know the history, let’s have a little recap. Five months ago Android has launched a 10k application, and now there has been gossips roaming and spreading around the net that Android will be launching 20k this coming 2010. I hope they are not trying to run after iPhone’s 100k application store, because 20k is obviously one fifth of what iPhone application store can offer. 1 thumb Android has 20,000 application, instead 16,000 only: What’s the fuzz? The question here is, does these gadget companies know what consumers really want? Does a 100k application really that useful? I have to say that these companies haven’t really been focusing on what consumers really need. Okay, so a 100k application is pretty much of a news maker and phenomenal, but what’s the use? Is it really possible that a person can max it out and use each application at least once a week? I bet not! Way back when mobile phones is as simple as a green screen and black font people don’t get to use all applications too, right? Innovation is not bad and trying to beat a record is definitely good to hear, but for this case I don’t think it’s even reasonable. I hope that these people discovering more and more ways of innovating technology will not focus on the memory or space a person can save in his or her phone, instead try to improve the flaws of the existing application (that way people will be happier and much more satisfied). It’s like buying a conventional 5-in-1 treadmill (I am talking about the ones that came out way back 1990’s ok)  and after a year a new treadmill comes out this time it’s  equipped with television and calorie count and different features, you buy it and after a month it breaks down and you can’t use it (your dog bit off the cord so you can’t use it anymore), you realized that the old one was more reliable, it doesn’t consume electricity plus you get to go on running since you don’t know how many calories you have burned yet, unlike the new one when it shows you 250 calories burned, you stop! android thumb Android has 20,000 application, instead 16,000 only: What’s the fuzz? People will never be contented with what they have nor what is available, that’s a fact! So don’t you think it’s better to just have a phone that you can customize to suit your needs and then you can just upgrade its performance every time the manufacturer has updated the version of the application? I believe that would be much better. Imagine buying a phone that has 20k or 100k application available for you but you really don’t have the need for it? So much for bragging rights I think! androidlib thumb Android has 20,000 application, instead 16,000 only: What’s the fuzz? Well, so much for my opinion and insights about this. Let me just drop the bomb, the 20k application from Android is a certified Urban Legend. According to Techcrunch.com they’ve talked to a spokesperson from Google and they were told that it’s just 16,000. I believe that number is not bad at all! The fact that almost 60% of these applications are for free, that’s already a good news! So watch out for the new Android mobile with 16,000 applications coming out this 2010!

AndroLib says that either Google is only counting the number of apps available to users in the U.S. or is disclosing the number accounted for at the end of November rather than today’s number

The Bottom factor? Its 16k only not 20k but who cares? I mean its the quality not the quantity users are clamoring for, won’t you agree?

I have included a video of  what some of the Android applications can do.
