Details about the upcoming Android 3.0 bearing the codename Gingerbread have been leaked. It is Mobile-review.com’s Eldar Murtazin, who revealed the details about it through his Russian podcast.
According to Eldar Murtazin, a Mobile Review blogger who has been known for credible mobile rumors, the new version will require a 1 GHz CPU and 512MB of RAM. It will also support devices with 1280 x 760 resolution screen display of 4 inches and higher. The said version of the next OS is lineup for the 4th quarter of 2010. There was some information that the said launching will happen on the month of October.
Other details aside from the above mentioned details revealed by Murtazin regarding Android 3.0 were as follows;
- Android 3.0 Gingerbread will be released in mid-October,2010 and first handsets will be shipped during the holiday seasons (November and December)

- Android’s split into two branches is already official, 3.0 for top of the line and high end devices and 2.1/2.2 for low-end mass market handsets. The purpose of which is capture the market for both low end and high end level devices.
As mentioned in the podcast, various interfaces such as HTC’s Sense, Motorola’s MOTOBLUR, and Sony Ericsson’s Time Scape will decrease its relevance after Gingerbread comes out because the update will offer more than the UIs can provide. It is very much possible that Google will take the opportunity to ensure that its new user interface will perform well for tablet devices.
As of present, Google have not made any final announcement regarding Android 3.0 although a lot of details about it have been leaked in the internet. All of the details being revealed are not yet official and just a simple collaboration of all the ongoing rumors regarding Android 3.0.
Google remained to be silent regarding this matter, they did not admit nor deny the ongoing rumors about the upcoming OS, Android 3.0. Hopefully with the Android 3.0, mobile devices manufacturer will be pushed to come up with more improved devices in the future.
