After the launch of the Android 2.2 OS, rumors about the future release of the Android 3.0 OS with codename “Gingerbread” has began sprouting. And just recently this upcoming mobile OS is rumored to be released in just a few weeks from now. A snapshot of Gingerbread running on a mobile device has also shown up lately, which even give the impression that its rumored release may actually be true. Based on this leaked information, the Android 3.0 aka Gingerbread will come with the following features:
- Comes with an integrated video chat support
- Eliminate third party “bloatware” such as the convergence of UI elements
- Promises a possible mixture of webOS
- A simple and cleaner look
- Integrated with your favorite Google apps such as Gmail, calendar, YouTube and the like
- Comes with an increased speed and better CPU performance
- Requires a more powerful smartphone with specs of at least 1 GHz processor, 512 MB of RAM and 3.5-inch display
The Android 3.0 is apparently more polished and offer new things that its user will surely enjoy. Google has also paid attention on making its built-in apps to be very consistent. We may also expect some graphics enhancements knowing that the lead designer of Palm webOS Martias Duarte fled to Google to work on the Android last May.
According to a very reliable source, most of the visual changes to the Gingerbread are quite subtle. The standard icons was given a simpler and cleaner look the gives its users an OS experience which is more pleasing to the eyes. There are also noticeable changes in its notification bar. They have taken a warmer slate grey color rather than the bright white notifications that the current Android features. The carrier branding is also more prominently displayed when the notification tab is pulled-down.
As far as its home screen is concern, not much change has been made. However, it is extremely noticeable that Google is bringing in more of the Android’s trademark green into various places within the OS.
Unlike in the past , Google did not stipulate any hardware requirements, but has implemented a minimal hardware requirements instead. Google originally schedule the release of the Android 3.0 OS within the Q4 of 2010, some analysts speculated that it may be push through early next year instead.
