We’re very excited to share with you that Adobe has finally launched the Adobe Flash Player 10.2 on Android! The application will be available for download in the Android Market and will support several Android devices including smartphones and tablets. It currently supports Froyo, Gingerbread and Honeycomb OS.

The Adobe Flash Player 10.2 upgrade will work seamlessly with dual core smartphones equipped with Froyo (Android 2.2) and Gingerbread (Android 2.3). Single core phone owners shouldn’t worry because the new Flash Player will work on their devices as well. The most noticeable change is the significant increase in frame rate while playing flash-based videos such as YouTube. However, the smartphones will not get the full functionality of the application including improvement in battery life and browser integration unlike Honeycomb-powered tablets.
On the other hand, Adobe has released the beta version of the Flash Player on Honeycomb devices such as the Motorola Xoom. Being in this stage, the devices cannot use the full potential of the application. For example, the device would be able to play a 480p video with ease but when it comes to 720p movies, one would notice some issues.
Adobe said that the reason for that is because the hardware acceleration for the Flash Player in Honeycomb was “turned off”. Rest assured that everything will be corrected in the next release. No exact date, however, was mentioned.
