Last year we witnessed a tough rivalry between the two contending giants operating the mobile world. But the tension ain’t over yet. As Google unleashed Android Honeycomb to brawl against the Apple iOS, expect a tougher tension between these two networks in 2011.

Android Honeycomb
Google held “A Taste of What’s New from Android” event to showcase the key features of Honeycomb. The search- giant mobile OS indeed features a promising milestone for Android. As anticipated, Honeycomb is particularly designed for Android tablets. Google showcased a ton of features circling the innovation of Android 3.0.
Honeycomb features an easy-to-access toolbars. Users can gain access to their opened and running applications straight from the homescreen. The search function is shown at the top left part of the screen while opposing at the top right will gain you access to the applications. Android widgets are situated at the bottom part of the screen. These home-based widgets allow you to access apps like Gmails, calendar, and video. With an added feature for notification, it now includes a pop-up small phone version of the mail-sender.
Furthermore, there’s a new engine optimized for a great 3D experience on Honeycomb. This will support 3D apps (Google map, 3D games and videos) to run smoothly on this latest Android OS. A “Contact Shortcut” widget allows you to access names from your list. Video chatting via Google Talk runs perfectly on a full-screen mode.

Apple iOS
While Honeycomb at present circles the press, it is undeniable that iOS has established their trademark in the mobile industry. Originally developed for iPhone, iOS innovation empowers the mobile platform and currently supports other Apple devices.
So, will the Android Honeycomb overtake the Apple iOS? That’s a battle to watch out in the coming days!
