When Google TV made a buzz last month, we were sure that Android TV sets won’t be far from reality, and we are right. Recently, a Swedish-based company – People of Lava – (not the bennylava video) has announced that they will be releasing a 42 inch, LED screen TV powered by Android (1.5 cupcake) which will be beta tested this summer.
While the specs and its features aren’t yet finalized, it appears the unit will cater some familiar features from the Google TV, like capability to stream directly from Youtube, Hulu, Netflix.
Sources also suggest that it’ll have a built-in browser, so you can do Google maps, and download apps like Facebook and Twitter straight from the Android app store.
Which I think is kind of moot, because you need a keyboard to do it. Also, who would want to browse Google maps, on your TV-sets? I mean, it sounds cool, but shouldn’t we just leave that to the other gadgets on our house?
Other specs include: 1920 x 1080 Full HD capability,+ PAL/SECAM, DVB-T with Common Interface, its inputs supports PC RGB, CVBS, S-Video and 3 HDMI, 2 Scart for the components. Coax audio / Earphones for the output — and last but not the least — its processor is running a Cortex A8 chip set to 833 MHz.
If you’re interested with this unit, the price doesn’t come as that cheap. The 42 inch will have a tag of 2000 euros (2,695 bucks) Other sizes (47/ 52 incher model) will be available as well, which costs around 2,500 euros (3,370 bucks)
