Most of the early phone adopters who have tried Apple’s iPhone4 claimed that they have experienced some reception problems. In fact, a lot of customer complaints have been made through blogs and gadget focused websites regarding this poor reception issue.

To fix this problem, Apple will be adopting AT&T’s recommended formula for calculating the number of bars to be displayed for a given signal strength. This formula will enable the iPhone to display the right bars representing its signal strength at that time. With this iPhone users can be assured that they will be provided a better indication of the reception they have within their location.
Apple will provide a free software update after they have integrated AT&Ts recommended formula. This software update will also be present for the iPhone 3Gs and iPhone 3G unit.
It has been noted that Apple puts the blame on its reception problem to its software for the second time around. Up to now, Apple has not yet explained the reason behind the iPhone calls dropping and data degradation problem when the iPhone is held in a common way. Likewise, Apple doesn’t even admit any error on its antenna design.
