Many were shocked recently when they saw the two patent applications published by the US Patent & Trademark Office. This is because Apple has not always been a fan of a stylus but apparently, developers have filed for a patent last 2010. Steve Jobs, who famously shunned these stylus ideas, probably turned over in his grave.

On the other hand, according to the pictures of the patent, Apple would like to deviate from the usual kind of stylus that we now have. Their pen would have a built-in camera to capture images and its contact with a surface can be identified by the optical device that is part of the pen.
There has been no news as to the production of these new patents and no confirmation nor negations have been released by the company yet. Many of us still believe that Apple will still gear towards functionality than more pizzazz. The iPad or iPhone are very much famous and great as they are. We are not in a hurry to add something that can be done by our itty-bitty fingers. Perhaps in the future, we may find it exciting or enticing to have a unique stylus but for now, we’re quite happy with the way things are.
