Its a slow news day at the tech industry but that doesn’t stop someone of spilling more Apple beans on the blogosphere, take for example this claim by CNET’s Brian Tong tweeting that his “source” confirms “all new next-generation Mac Pro and Mac Mini will launch by the end of July or the first week of August”.
Now before you explode and ask more questions, let us be clear for once that Mac Pro is a desktop computer and not similar to a Macbook Pro which is a laptop that received its overhaul last February. The same case for Mac Mini which is Apple’s “mini-desktop” enclosed with an aluminum body.

Mac Mini

For those who are well-aware, the most powerful Mac Pro was revealed last July along with its “Mac. To the power of 12” flyer, stating that it’s using a system cranked up to an insane 12 processing cores. Meanwhile, the Mac Mini was unveiled a month before the Pro, touted by Apple as “the most energy efficient desktop in the word” under its petite body.
Going back to the statement of Tong, there’s a possibility that Mac Pro and Mac Mini for this year may receive an upgrade just like Macbook Air and the Macbook Pro; however, if you’ll ask me, there’s still no need for the12-core Mac Pro to receive an upgrade since its specifications is still hardcore. Also, shelling out another 2.5k / 5k USD isn’t really cool even for those individuals who receive above-average annual salary.
Aside from CNET, we still can’t find other venerable sources which can affirm this discovery. Anyway, let’s see how this one plays out when we reach the end of July.
