Over the last six months, a lot of low-cost tablets have been released by Augens, Coby, and Viewsonics. And joining these manufacturers is no other than Archos who is apparently coming up with two new tablets…the Archos 70 and Archos 101 tablets. These two tablets may not be the cheapest in the market since a lot of cheaper tablets models from China are there, but definitely these two tablets are among those tablets that are made with good quality.
Both the Archos 70 and 101 tablet runs with the Android 2.2 operating system and powered by the 1GHz ARM Cortex A8 processors. In addition to these specs, both of them also sport a capacitive screen as well. The only difference is the screen size; the Archos 70 comes with a 7-inch screen while the Archos 101 sports a 10-inch screen. And let us not forget that both these tablets also come with a front-facing VGA camera as well. Well, it seems that Archos is slowly learning the basics when it comes to the art of making a good quality, but cheaper tablet as well.
Basically, the Archos 70 is very comfortable to handle as you can hold it using your one hand while the Archos 101 on the other hand is also easier to handle as well. Both of these tablets also come integrated with a plastic kickstand. It extends from the right backside for the 70’s and on the center portion at the back of the 101 tablet. This is actually a nice idea to have a plastic kickstand integrated into its design since will definitely help you save from picking up an extra accessory for such purpose.
Simply looking at these two tablets will basically give you an impression that these two tablets actually feel and look very cheap in the outside. It may not come with a very impressive or winning design, but it has a very well-rounded array of ports that includes a mini-USB, mini-HDMI, 3.5mm headset jack as well as a microSD slot.
However, one of the downside of this tablet is its sluggish VGA cameras. The photos came out blurry and videos were a little choppy as well. So whether this tablet will work for you or not depends on what do you look for in a tablet.
The Archos 70 is already available for pre-order through Archos store for $ 274.99 for the 8GB model and $ 349.99 for the 250GB version, while the Archos 101 is also available for pre-order as well for a price $ 299.99 through Archos store as well as Amazon.com.
