Archos is planning to offer its new tablet series within the year that aim to compete with Apple iPad 2 and the Motorola Xoom. The new series, which is known as “Gen 9″, is scheduled to be revealed during the IFA event on September. However, it seems that Archos wants to introduce it a little earlier. Specs and features coming up!

Archos Gen 9 will be using TI’s Dual core 1.6GHZ ARM A9 processor along with a 250GB HDD/ 32GB SDD storage option. Archos Gen 9 also makes use of thinner, lighter and stronger tablet enclosure. It is said that the gadget will also include a “disruptive 3G modem” (patented technology that will also be present on other Gen 9 tablets) and powered by Android 3.0 Honeycomb OS.
With this specs, Archos Gen9 aims to compete with the iPad 2 head on as it boasts of its very fast processor and affordable price. But it may take more than this to grab some of Appleās huge market share. Archos need to deliver a top-notch performance and consistently prove to the public that the Gen9 tablet is better.
The price of the Archos Gen 9 is said to be around $566 and final presentation will be released in June 2011. More details to come to stick around.
