There were previous reports claiming that contents of “twits” spread on popular microblogging site twitter.com are pointless babbles. Third party developers are now trying to prove them wrong by creating worthy games that utilizes twitting. One of those is Artwiculate, a twitter-based game that aims to help people learn new words everyday. Did we say highfaluting words too? We still don’t know what does Artwiculate literally means because their website is very new (a guess would be articulate/ to communicate something). The “W” might be inserted to blend it with “twitter” for the word “twit”.
No idea if that’s right but now, let’s find out more what this twitter game offers.
How to play?
To quote the rules at Artwiculate’s site:
To play, just use today’s word in context in one of your tweets. That’s it. Your tweet will appear here where people can tell you if they like it. You’ll get points if they like it or retweet it.
In order to start using the word for the day, click the tweet it button on the home page. After that, you will be redirected to the twitter.com to log-in to your account. You can now start using the “word” in a sentence on your next tweet.
As the rule from Artwiculate says, your sentence (with the word for that day) will appear on the artwiculate website where people can vote if they like it or not.
You will earn points via people who vote for your composition. As simple as that.
What will you really get with the “points” earned?
Just “kudos!” or (good work), maybe pat your own back, to at least feel proud that you learned a new word for the day; even if you’ll forget it the next. It’s alright if you have fun doing it, that’s the goal of all games anyway. At least, you increased your vocabulary a notch up.
Oh, and the developers have more. If you like this twitter game you can follow artwiculate on your twitter account so that you can receive new words everyday and be enlisted on their web profile. Nice, this is great Chuck!
Word addicts and Webster Nerd herds would surely love to try this kind of game, although the total fans would be limited. The website seems to be “testing the waters” as evident from the design and construction of their site.
Wrap up
Artwiculate would cater to word enthusiasts alone (other folks probably won’t last a day trying this game unless they are dead bored). It also offers an alternative on utilizing how people use their tweets. We have nothing against it, infact using artwiculate is better than twitting a pointless babble such as: “I’m doing nothing right now”. C’mon! grow up man.
