Ubisoft, the game developer behind Assassin’s Creed 2 has announced its latest sales performance. The group enthusiastically revealed that Assassin’s Creed II sold 1.6 million game units world wide – an estimated figure. This figure surpasses its predecessor by as much as 32% within the same sales period.
The first installment of the game was launced last November 2007 and has remained the “fastest selling new video game intellectual property ever in the US”. Following Assassin’s Creed’s success, Ubisoft released Assassin’s Creed II on November 17 & 19 , 2009 in America and Europe respectively. It currently supports only Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 consoles. Since then, Assassin’s Creed I & II has been receiving positive reviews from both gaming community and critics.
Assassin’s Creed II has received an overwhelmingly positive reception from gamers around the world and from the video game trade press with to date an average user rating of 94% on Gamespot.com and over 91% average critics score according to GameRankings.com.
Ubisoft Entertainment was also the developer behind other popular video game products such as Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six, Splinter Cell, Prince of Persia and Far Cry.
