Feeling kinda bored with the usual Kindle-Nook-Sony e-reader tandem flowing out towards the blogosphere for months now? Well, to tell you the truth, there’s so much to look out behind the colorful bushes and speaking of which, it appears Asus is really coming out on an official release for its Asus Eee note EA800 which was first leaked back at the last CES for this year. Anyway, we previously reported last week that this new e-reader may have its official christening on 2011 and today, it gets an official call about its release date happening on Q1 of 2011.
Just to give you a quick refresher, the Eee Note EA800 sports an 8-inch resistive touchscreen (stylus-based) with a 1024 x 768 resolution under a bright grayscale monochrome display. Aside from that it will also have a 2MP camera, voice recorder to help you audio record your notes, 4GB internal storage capacity and just like the claims of the company, this one can last up to 13.5 hours of uninterrupted use – all of this under a Linux based operating system. The official price for this one will be 230 USD (better than what we expected) and this is a good alternative for its expensive brother the DR-900 having a hefty tag of 426 USD. Currently, it’s now being revealed on Asian countries to be followed by Hong Kong then to Western countries (Germany, Italy, Russia) going back to China and finally to USA on the first quarter of next year.
Anyway, let’s see how this one goes from here, considering that next year could be a whole new breed for e-readers already.
