In this era wherein technology seems to be getting smaller and thinner by the second, it’s refreshing to see the new 13.3-inch Asus U30S laptop with the hardware platform of the latest Intel Sandy Bridge processor.

The U30S is the latest from Asus which has a Core i5-2410M processor with 8-GB DDR3 memory and 500-GB 7200 RPM hard-drive. It has an integrated Intel HD Graphics and a dedicated Nvidia 520M graphic chips to highlight its 1366 x 768 glossy resolution which is perfect for playing games and web browsing. It also has a full-sized keys with a nice rubbery finish which makes typing really pleasurable.
Although it may seem rather bulky, it does not weigh too much at approximately 4 pounds. The exterior looks great (and durable) as well, with its charcoal aluminum finish. A great battery life is also to be expected since the Asus U30S has an eight-cell 5600 mAh 84 Wh battery.

There’s one minor problem though, it doesn’t have 3G and USB 3.0 but it does have an internal DVD-RW which is not very common on laptops these days. It’s also loaded with Windows 7 Home Premium including some softwares already pre-installed.
Sadly, information on the scheduled released date and the price of this new laptop computer is not available yet, or if it will be made available in the United States in the near future since it’s initially designed for the European market. But the early sample model proves very promising.
