Good news to all the tight-budget gamers out there! Graphic cards are now significantly cheaper. Let us all give a big thank you to AMD for coming out with their latest product, the ATI Radeon HD 5670.
For under $100, consumers will now be able to purchase an ATI Radeon HD 5000 series graphics card which is equipped with full Direct X support. The Radeon HD 5670 is only one of the series of graphic cards from AMD’s latest announcement. Other cards released together with the Radeon HD 5670 are Radeon HD 5500 and Radeon HD 5450.
Last September to October, AMD released the ATI Radeon 5700 and 5800 series of Mid-range and High-end graphic cards respectively . On October, ATI released enthusiast card series via 5900 and HD 5970 capable of getting at par with 4800 X2 series.
ATI Radeon HD 5870 came out with a premium price of $379.99 and then shortly after came the Radeon HD 5850. The price for Radeon HD5850 was being sold for $279.99, lower than the Radeon HD 5870. It was cheaper because it had lower clock speeds and two fewer SIMD engines. Now moving on to the Radeon 5700 series; these cards are almost exactly the same with the Radeon 5800’s, cutting it in half was the only modification done to it. In essence, the exact same method was used in creating the ATI Radeon HD 5670.
Its features are principally one-half of the Radeon HD 5700 series, but of course equipped with the vital components that a good DirectX 11 graphic card should have. It was mentioned that the price range of these cards would begin from around $49 to around $80.
So what can the ATI Radeon HD 5670 do? To begin with, it is able to run ATI Eyefinity monitor setups, DirectX 11 game titles and can it can also work faster with DirectCompute on Windows 7. For the cheap price point, this card can work quite well; but of course it’s hard to compare it with the performance of a Radeon HD 5750.
This is not bad at all, considering that it ultimately is the economical version of the Radeon HD 5970. So get your game on and enhance your S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Call of Pripyat, Dirt 2, or Aliens vs Predator experience.
