Ever heard of the BEL Indian Solar Tablet? Well, it’s an Indian-made tablet that will be used by the Indian Ministry of Rural Development. But what’s even more interesting with this new tablet is the fact that it will be packed with a solar-powered battery that will go along the 2.2 version of the Android OS.

Not much has been revealed about the tablet’s specifications but what we do know right now is that it will be sporting a white form factor that will be enclosed in a black leather pouch. The tablet can also be connected to a separate keyboard.
Another great thing about this solar-powered tablet is that it will only be sold for a very budget-friendly price of 75 USD (that’s equivalent to 3000 Rs.). We are not quite sure if the said tablet will be equipped with a built-in camera. The tablet will be used to conduct surveys concerning poverty where the data will be sent to the central server of the aforementioned ministry.
As of now, the Indian Solar Tablet remains unnamed. Reports have also stated that a different version of the tablet will be supplied to students. These tablets will be facilitated by the Ministry of HRD. No word has been stated if the tablet will be available for market retail.
BEL stands for Bharat Electronics Ltd.
