Search engines play an important role in making a certain website get notice by prospective customers. So whenever you type a certain topic into the search box, these search engines will go over millions of pages that match the topic that you are searching for and show the most relevant results on the first few pages. And speaking of these search engines, Google and Bing are definitely among the major search engines that we have nowadays. And just recently, these two search engines have been involved in a certain controversy because Google has accused Microsoft of copying search results from Google.

According to an article made by Danny Sullivan, Google made an experiment and has set-up a honeypot to lure Bing into the trap by manipulating their search engine to rank honeypot pages for 100 words that neither Bing nor Google has found matches before. Then, some Google engineers began to run some test queries using the Internet Explorer and Bing toolbar. Fourteen days after this experiment Google has found out that some of the results started to appear in Bing. However, only 9 out of 100 searches produced the same result on both of these search engines. But this seems enough for Google to assume that Bing was copying Google search results.
Google and Bing has long been engaged in some quiet war that only takes behind the scene for quite some time, but recently things are becoming more public because both search engines are now using their own blog sites to criticize each other. As a matter of fact, there are certain instances that these two search engines have called each other liars in the very popular social networking site Twitter as well as in their own blogs as well.

If Google has accused Bing of copying their search results by recycling them through the combination of the Microsoft Internet Explorer and the Bing toolbar, Microsoft on the other hand has accused Google of manipulating the search results. Both of these two search engines have claimed that there is no truth in these accusations. Bing is definitely not copying its results from Google and Google is not doing anything to manipulate the results of its search engine.
We do not have any idea how this ongoing war between Google and Microsoft is going to end. So let us wait and see for more updates and hope that everything will end well.
