Video games have obviously evolved as one of the best forms of entertainment over the last three decades. In fact, these video games have become very popular nowadays and have become one of the best means for spending time with loved-ones or simply have fun with friends. And because of this, more game developers and publishers are coming out with a new video game almost every now and then and one of this is Irrational Games.
If you love to play shooter games, then here is another shooter game to watch out for. This game is known as the BioShock Infinite, an upcoming first-person shooter game that was previously known as Project Icarus. Apparently, this game is the third one from the BioShock series that was developed by Irrational Games and will be published by 2K Games for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox360 platforms. This game is not really a direct sequel or prequel to the previous version in the BioShock series as it takes place in an earlier period and in an entirely different setting. However, this game features similar concepts and themes as far as gameplay is concerned.
Basically, the BioShock: Infinite will be set in a city called Columbia, a city that is suspended in the air by giant blimps and balloons. This city was meant to symbolize the ideas of exceptionalism and this city was later on disowned by the United States and its location was soon lost to everyone else. And because of this, a civil war eventually broke out in the city involving different factions in the society with each of them trying to gain control of the city. The events in this game will take place in 1912.
As far as gameplay is concerned, the BioShock: Infinite will be a first-person shooter game with role playing game elements that are similar to the previous versions of the game. This game will basically revolved on the mission of its main character DeWitt as he moves in the various structures of Columbia using a grappling hook as well as other means of transportation in order to search for Elizabeth. And once he is already reunited with Elizabeth, they have to work together in order to escape Columbia.
The BioShock: Infinite is slated for release in the year 2012 and will be available for various platforms such as the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows. So watch out for it.
