A video conferencing camera, Biscotti TV Phone has been recently launched by Biscotti, a personal video company that provides video calling products and services, at the recent New York CES Unveiled show.

The device only needs to be connected between a TV’s HDMI input and a cable box, or as a standalone device. Its camera has an auto-answer call and components power-on (through HDMI-CEC control) features as well as internet connectivity via a WiFi with built-in microphone.
The UI and menus of the phone is overlaid on top of the show or video to enable answering calls without interrupting the watch-mode eliminating the need to use the HDTV’s input switch. The camera, therefore, allows HD video calls to another Biscotti user or via Google Gmail network as it sits on top of an HDTV, or runs the cable box connection through an HDMI cable.

To work, a user needs to create a Biscotti account to be able to call on the network worldwide with support for Gmail accounts, but not Skype. Biscotti is equipped with the following specs useful in video calling: 720p image quality and wide-angle lens.
The company is selling the device on November 21 for $199 offering customers the unique strategy of “pay once, use forever option” in video conferencing solution.
