Well what do you know? It appears Blackberry has finally unleashed its BB Dakota which was formerly known as the Blackberry Magnum last year. Actually, we made a lengthy post back then confirming this one has a multitouch capability plus a built-in non-slider qwerty keyboard, and that’s thrilling to know because the latest Blackberry Torch (9800) possess a slider one.

Just like the leaks portraying today, it looks like the body of Blackberry Dakota would have a near resemblance to previous blackberry-bold units although its specifications are a notch above your average BB Bold. According to engadget, this one would have a 2.8-inch VGA capacitive screen (640×480 resolution) with 4GB integrated storage plus a 768MB RAM. It will also have a 5MP camera w/ HD + Flash and video recording capability, Micro USB port, WiFi / Bluetooth support. Additional goodies include Magnetometer and NFC (first in its class) so we may be expecting some mobile-wallet feature here as well.
It will support Quad-band (GSM/GPRS/EDGE) and Tri-Band UMTS so you can use this on Asian countries plus, it will have 3G mobile hotspot so you can turn this smartphone into a WiFi receiver. The only caveat though is its price and release date is still M.I.A but certainly, it will come this year!
