Just when you thought RIM is about to reveal the Blackberry OS 7 this quarter, another news about the company just appeared today, stating that the next platform update will be Blackberry OS 6.1, and this will be a “major” one according to some pundits.
Anyway, the root of this report happened yesterday, as RIM’s fiscal report for Q4 of 2010 has been revealed, confirming its lukewarm profits during the holiday period. Considering the continuous declining of RIM company over the wrath of iOS and Android, some of its representatives have managed to answer the next update for Blackberry aside from its fleet of smartphones and Playbook.
As engadget confirms, the next platform update would be BB OS 6.1 and this would come out as an “overhaul” upgrade for the existing Blackberry platform we are currently using. Predicted announcement to arrive at Spring-break, particularly on May, during the Blackberry World Conference.
Then again, should this statement be true, it would mean that we’ll be having two BB updates for this year, including Blackberry OS 7.0 which is said to be announced on Q3 of 2011 (Sept-November) according to that leaked roadmap we’ve seen before.
If you’ll ask me, I won’t be celebrating that much for the BB OS 6.1, eventhough RIM is calling it as a “major” upgrade, just because of the imminent arrival of BB OS 7. How about you?
