We had previously reported the upcoming BlackBerry Storm 3 on September of last year. Months had passed and we didn’t receive any new information about the new RIM smartphone until now. BGR, whom we know always go “balls deep” when it comes to BlackBerry devices, provides new insight on the new RIM handset.

Back in September, we heard that one of the new functions Storm 3 will carry is the new mobile hotspot. Check out these specs to know if it’s still true (thanks BGR).
- 1.2GHz processor
- 3.7-inch 800 x 480 capacitive display
- Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE
- Tri-band UMTS/HSPA
- 5-megapixel camera with 720p video recording
- 8GB eMMC (storage for apps and data), 512MB of RAM
- microSD slot
- Magnetometer
- Proximity sensor
- Accelerometer
- Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR
- 2.4GHz b/g/n and 5GHz a/n Wi-Fi + UMA
- 3G Mobile hotspot
- Optical trackpad
- 1230 mAh battery
- BlackBerry OS 6.1
- OpenGL ES 2.0

As you can see, the new RIM BlackBerry Storm 3 will have the mobile hotspot we’re asking for (aside from the 3.7 inch screen and BlackBerry OS 6.1). It’s about time RIM! Though, we have to say it’s a bit late since other smartphone counterparts like Android and Verizon iPhone already had similar feature. Then again, it’s better late than never.
The new BlackBerry Storm 3 is rumored to be released on September of this year with 2 versions namely: Monaca and Monza. We’ll keep you posted on its developments so stay tuned.
