In case you wake up a little bit late today, you should know that Activision has just revealed the registration for Call of Duty: Elite, and you can sign-up as a beta tester for the online game this summer, available officially on the later quarters of this year.

As we dig deeper, we saw that many gamers aren’t that impressed and a bit baffled with the new “gimmick” of Acti for the pricing plans of this game. As you can see, instead of the usual “pay-once get the game – pay again to get exclusive contents”, CoD Elite will provide both free and subscription-based content, which could pose some problems but might prove to be lucrative if executed properly.

As WSJ reports, it’s rumored that the price for this game will be 7.99 bucks or less, and there will be free “content” available. Then again, you should take this news with a grain of salt since other reports from the gamingsphere says otherwise.
Aside from its pricing, the new game will feature out a new feature called as “connect” which leverages the social-network so kids can connect through their facebook accounts and use it as a meeting place for battles.

Interestingly, you can also access Call of Duty: Elite in mobile apps, which we predicted will be available on iOS and Android. This one should provide you the full access for your stats, weapons, rankings, etc. along with the total XP you’ve obtained from your recent matches; heck, it even has an XP calculator inside!
To sum it all up, Elite is an ambitious project that may set the standard of new gaming, if this one turned out to be a success. Then again, it’s on a cocoon stage and any wrong move might prove to be fatal for its development.
