During the course of “web-history”, it’s said that the older the site grows the popular it gets. But I guess this proclamation is too farfetched. Today, Twitter beats all odds and starts to fly over each rank ousting those “elder” websites to the ground.
The “blue-chick” officially started on March, 2006. With high-hopes that microblogging will revolutionize the way how people connect with their peers, “tweeting” sure was a smashing success throughout the world. On year 2009, Twitter almost tripled its growth according to alexa (de-facto for measuring the popularity of websites)
Today (September 16, 2009) the said mogul-site is ranking 13 on the top 100 sites in the world. Ousting Google.de, microsoft.com and rapidshare. Now heading its way to dethrone Google.in (rank 12) and perhaps Myspace (rank 11).
So what makes Twitter so special?
Like My uncle says, “couldn’t it be any easier than that?”
Your friends can follow you anytime throughout the day, just press the “update” button and boom that 140 character worth of message will be received by your tweepeeps on a jiffy.
No more fuzzy CS customizations, adding fancy-looking profile etc. Twitter is more focused on “simplicity” and that’s why it’s a HIT!
The most popular people use it.
There’s nothing more special for a teen-ager or celeb-fans alike to know what their favorite celebrities are doing on that moment. Finally, celebrities don’t look like “heavens” away with their fans. Twitter revolutionizes the way how average folks connect with “big time” people. Just ask US President Barrack Obama about that.

Connectivity has been a dream of everyone. Imagine Billions of people having a same view on a particular moment? With Twitter, it’s all possible. Just look at the Michael Jackson craze. Actually it’s said that twitter spread the news first about MJ’s death, faster than any known news report.

Twitter is now flocked with millions of people. To an advertiser, this a dream come true to sell their products. Gone are the days on displaying thousand dollar worth-of-billboard you see on the highway. Investing on twitter is such a cheaper choice that could yield tremendous results.
Well, It’s too “early” to tell if twitter can oust Myspace’s rank. With all the fame MS achieved throughout the years, no wonder it’s one of the social-networking sites web-users look up to. However, I am hearing a cheer of tweets saying “otherwise”.
Either you are a Myspace Fan or a follower of the blue-chick, you must admit how these two networking sites shaped the culture of the web-community today. Don’t you agree?
