Asus ultrabook fanatics may check the upcoming Zenbook UX32A & UX32VD models. See sleek and sexy specs details. Price and release date announcement is expected this year.

Taiwanese electronics giant Asus hardly ever fails to deliver something good and new to a market filled with power and efficiency-hungry consumers, and two of its latest offers don’t disappoint, especially when they have price tags that anyone on a budget are able to buy.

First of the two most notable Asus gadgets is the Zenbook UX32VD, a 13.3-inch ultrabook that takes it origins from the UX31 model that was released last year. However, it’s a completely different model from the other line and is far more powerful with the ability to carry one of Intel’s upcoming Ivy Bridge family of processors, namely the i3-3217U, i5-317U and the i7-3517U, but it also has the option for a second-gen chip as well. It also has a hybrid disk drive with 500GB for the HDD and 24GB for the SSD side, with an option for a pure solid state drive which has 256GB. Of course, getting the hybrid drive is more ideal, as it has the space only an HDD can give with the quick booting time and performance that the SSD is known for.

Aside from the drive and CPU, the UX32Vd has jaws dropping and people ready fish their wallets out of their pockets because of the graphics capabilities it brings. There used to be only one ultrabook with a discrete graphics chip on the market, but with the UX32Vd’s 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GT620M GPU, people now have another option if they want some power in their ultrabooks, especially something that makes good use of the HD 1920 x 1080px screen.

The other Asus offering is the Zenbook UX32A, which is pretty similar in many ways to its higher-end brother, but instead of NVIDIA-powered graphics, it only has Intel’s integrated GMA HD 4000. Still, it’s just as notable and comes at a far cheaper price starting at $800, while the UX32Vd will cost about $1,000, both of which are impressively low for ultrabooks. Of course, both laptops can still be customized, and the prices will change depending on certain choices.

The exact date of release for both laptops is still unknown, but since Intel wont be releasing the Ivy Bridge series for a while, Asus will be shipping them with Sandy Bridge processors for now.

Business owners and professionals would be delighted to see the new Dell Latitude 6430U, which is part of the company's ultrabook series. Learn more about its specs and features. Price and launch date still a nil.

Computer company Dell is adding a new model to its Latitude Series called the Dell Latitude 6430U. The main focus of the new model is to be part of the huge market demand from professionals. Because of the dual-core i3, i5 or i7 Ivy Bridge processor, this model is one good Ultrabook. Aside from that, business professionals will have a great time with this model since it runs Intel’s vPro platform with its easy access for data management, hardware encryption, and fingerprint and smartcard reader.

Other specifications of the unit include: the 14-inch screen (which is said to have a 1366 x 768 display), 8 GB of RAM, up to 256 GB of SSD, a removable battery, a spill resistant keyboard and an aluminium design finish. Since the model is a bit thick at 20.9mm, you can expect that it will be a bit on the heavy side at 1.74 kg, though it will basically change depending on your battery.

As of the moment, despite the hype of the launch of the model, the company has not yet announced any official release date nor any price range. For those who are enticed to get this model, you may have to wait for a while. If the actual unit is as good as what is written on the launch, then it might be well worth the wait.

The inexpensive and capable Via Android PC (APC) isn't your everyday PC gadget. Learn more about its specs and price details

Being known to be flexible, Google’s Android OS was put into good use by VIA Technologies in its Android PC (APC).

The APC is not your ordinary PC as it is only a motherboard. It has a dimension of 170x85mm and has the very basic specifications in it. Processor is the WM8750 SoC which has a clock speed of 800MHz. As for RAM, it is a fair 512MB DDR3 coupled with 2GB of flash memory. When we talk about its OS, VIA utilized Android 2.3 for the APC.

It comes with a BIOS chip, audio controller and Ethernet controller with speeds of 10/100Mbps. Powering it up can either be an external 12-volt adapter or through the internal 4-pin 12v connector. It has D-sub and HDMI connectors as well as four (4) USB 2.0 ports. It also comes with an Ethernet port and a pair of audio jacks. There is also a microSD card slot which will be used for storage (other option would be through USB).

Being very simple, it does have a limitation and this is the support for above 720p resolution. July is the launch for VIA’s APC and it would retail for a pocket-friendly price of US$49. It comes bundled with a 15W power adapter and Android pre-installed.

The mini desktop computer, Samsung Chromebox was recently spotted in an online store. See price and specs details before its release.

Since debuting in the CES event, Samsung’s Chromebox seemed to have hidden back to its shell and remained mum for a while. Apparently, it did not do such, as it was really available in plain sight by hovering at TigerDirect’s web store.

For starters, the Chromebox has a dimension of just 7.5-inches and is said to be somewhat like the Mac Mini. It is a mini desktop computer that is powered by the Chrome operating system (OS) from Google. It comes pack with a 1.9GHz dual-core Celeron B840 processor and is paired up with 4G of DDR3 memory. Internal storage is a fat 16GB of solid state drive (SSD) so there is no problem storing vital and essential information. It also comes with six (6) USB ports as well as DVI port. Other goodies in it are Ethernet, two (2) Display Link ports and jacks for both headphone and power. It is believed that the Chromebox would probably come with a wireless keyboard and mouse accessories.

Availability is reported to be this year. As for pricing, it was carrying a tag of $330 based on TigerDirect’s product listing. Currently, details on the Chromebox have made a disappearing act. Although we can expect more details once the Google I/O kicks-off in June.

Motorola aims to redefine how TV works with its DreamGallery concept. See features and video demo to know more.

Couch potatoes may want to note how the future of television (TV) would look like and Motorola wasted no time is sharing what the tube would be in the distant future. Motorola’s concept is called DreamGallery and often than not, the company labels it as “your media your way” in its demonstration video. The company’s initiative or rather inspiration for the concept is fed with its desire to enhance user interface (UI) for TVs.

Boston was the venue for Motorola’s reveal and it is timely since the Cable Show Industry Event is currently on-going. Once Motorola’s DreamGallery concept takes flight, it will be run by the company’s own cloud service, the Medios. It is designed to let user browse or view content from his/her TV wherein the internet is mimicked since bookmarks, recommendations and search tools can be utilized. It is also designed to be a cross-platform or one that works in a wide range of devices from TV, computer, tablet and smartphones. It basically puts into a single interface cable, internet TV and video on demand (VOD).

We do hope that Motorola’s concept pushes thru even though Google will be the future owner of the company if the buy becomes concrete. I guess some of you may hear of Google’s Android-based Google TV Platform right?

The upcoming Asus P8Z77-V motherboard is equipped with Thunderbolt port allowing for blazing fast PC peripheral add-ons. Price and release date are still pending.

Asus has just launched its latest motherboard labeled as P8Z77-V Premium which is equipped with the Thunderbolt connection interface.

Thunderbolt delivers transfer speeds which are twice the speed of USB 3.0 and can reach up to 20 times faster than the speed of USB 2.0. It is capable of simultaneously delivering duo-directional transfer speeds of 10Gbps over a single cable and flexibly daisy-chaining up to six devices which are Thunderbolt-configured. Being the flagship carrier of the P8Z77 Series, this motherboard from Asus sports a 4-way AMD CrossFireX and a real 4-way NVIDIA SLI on its PCIe Gen 3.0 slots. Moreover, the Asus P8Z77-V thunderbolt motherboard has USB 3.0 connectivity, a pair of Gigabit Intel LAN ports, an onboard mSATA based SSD of 32GB, and a modern SSD Caching II.

Thunderbolt is an innovative, fast-speed I/O technology which is concocted for flexibility, simplicity and performance. Fast transfer speeds can be comparable with that of a lightning since it’s faster than a USB 2.0 by up to 20 times and measures twice of a USB 3.0. One cable is enough to make bi-directional transfer speeds of 10Gbps in a simultaneous character. Furthermore, devices with Thunderbolt configurations can be daisy-chained through one connection. Users are guaranteed to have a computing experience which is clutter-free, high-performing, lag-free, professional, and top-notch.

The Asus P8Z77-V Motherboard provides consumers with the top of the line and most extensive solutions available. It boasts of a Dual Intelligent Processor 3 with SMART DIGI+Power Control, Wi-Fi GO! and no sweat file transferring to a remote desktop and mobile devices. Such functions work hand in hand with its wireless on-board dual-band and the latest Bluetooth 4.0 standard. Furthermore, its UEFI is packed with an unmatched quality of fan controls and its Fan Xpert2 delivers a robust and most advanced fan controlling system in Windows. Truly, it’s a one of a kind chipset-based motherboard with an unequaled attention given to the intricacies involved in its design and features.

No information is available yet on its price and release date.

NVIDIA unveils its Kepler-powered Tesla K20 & K10 GPU units for supercomputer owners and geeks. Price still unknown.

NVIDIA has formally announced its two new Kepler-based Tesla compute accelerators, the Tesla K10 and K20, and it packs more precision than the Fermi GPUs.

Not for your ordinary gaming computer, the K10 and K20 is designed for a specific target such as big companies and military facilities as well as others who are in need of raw power in precision. The K10 card is based on two GK104 GPUs with 320GB/s memory bandwidth, single precision aggregate peak of 4.58TFLOPS, and double precision aggregate peak of 0.190TFLOPS. The GK104 GPU which the K10 is based on can be found in high-end desktop cards like the GeForce GTX 680 and GTX 690. So you can just imagine the high imaging potential sealed in this small computing card.

This means that the K10 is more of an imaging processor than the usual Tesla cards since it lacks the ECC and flexibility found in others. This is why the K10 is marketed more on oil companies to help them in searching for oil and gas reserves and other facilities that rely heavily on imagery than high performance computing.

The K20, on the other hand, is the one you need for high performance computing solutions. This card is based on an all new GK110 GPU that packs a punch with 7.1 billion transistors and 15 streaming multiprocessors. NVIDIA claims this chip to deliver “three times more double precision compared to Fermi-architecture based Tesla products.” It is said to have the potential of delivering up to 2TFLOPS DP although NVIDIA claims only about “over 1TFLOPS”. The K20 is expected to power supercomputers such as ones on big academic institutions and defense contractors.

The K10 is now available for big companies who can afford it while the K20 will come out in the fourth quarter of this year.

Since the target market are the SMBs and professionals, the company equipped the TravelMate with the the Office Manager for SMBs to remotely monitor their technological resources as well as maintenance. It also has the Proshield Acer Security Suite for advanced security solutions. With the Acer Proshield, a user can have virtual encrypted disks to save sensitive information. To prevent file recoveries, the unit also has the File Shredder to permanently delete important data.

Other features include the 750 GB or more of HHD, a 14 inch (1366 X 768 pixels) LED display, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 + HS, Gigabit Ethernet, a High Definition Webcam and 3.0 USB ports.

The updated Acer TravelMate P243 is sold at 339 euros (or $536) apiece but if you are willing to spend more cash you can get up to 8GB of RAM and/or the NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M graphics for the best picture quality.

There are still no news as to when the model will be released to the market ( surely, it will be released in the UK first) but the knowledge of what this unit can give us may well give us the patience to wait.

RunCore InVincible SSD features a one-click-self-destruct button that physically destroys the drive protecting confidential information in it. See demo and other specs of this peripheral.

Are there people who are private enough to want to ruin their electronic files in case of a security breach? RunCore, a Chinese company that builds high-end solid-state drives, seems to think so, and created an appropriate storage unit, the InVincible SSD.

The little device makes use of SATA II technology as its interface, with a data reading speed of 240mbps and a writing speed of 140mbps. It’s also pretty tough with the ability to survive from -45 to 95C or -40 to 203F, but that’s not the most important feature of the drive. The InVincible comes with two long wires that have buttons at the ends, and they’re obviously very important to how the drive works.

Pressing the green button will wipe the contents of the InVincible completely, resulting in what RunCore calls Intelligent Destruction. Meanwhile, selecting the red button will cause Physical Destruction, which basically means that the SSD will self-destruct thanks to a high jolt of electricity. It doesn’t cause an actual explosion but the circuit boards and chips inside will be burnt and damaged beyond repair, so no one can hack into it and retrieve any data that had been stored.

This may seem overly paranoid and even insane to casual PC owners, but others, such as the military and government agencies, may make good use of the drive’s capabilities. Of course, having back-up files in other drives and computers are also recommended considering nothing can be retrieved once either of the InVincible’s buttons have been pressed.

RunCore claims that the drive has already been launched, but the actual release date and pricing haven’t been announced yet.

AMD reveals its new Ultrabook-friendly Trinity processor and touts to beat Intel in terms of price and applications. See specs and possible release date

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has launched its second generation of accelerated processing units (APUs) meant for ultra-thin laptops, regular laptops, PCs, home theater entertainment systems, and codes with embedded designs. More popularly known as “Trinity”, the new hardware provides a total of 12-hour battery life and gives twice the per-wattage performance of the previous generation Llano from APU’s A-Series.

AMD’s Trinity has reportedly made a huge increase in APU’s performance as compared with the Llano’s which amounts to 29% and 56% hikes in CPU performance and GPU performance respectively. Depending on one’s application needs, shifting power between CPU and GPU can be achieved dynamically through its latest Radeon HD 7000 series GPU and third-generation Turbo Core technologically enhanced CPU. When combined, the CPU and GPU features are capable of delivering higher than 700 gigaflops of computing performance. This speed is several times higher than the fastest x86 CPUs and aims to increase performance of several hundreds of applications.

The new processor family of the A-Series uses 32nm process technology, DirectX 11 support, dual-graphics support, and Eyefinity for multi-display support. It is equally built with the new AMD HD Media Accelerator which delivers a Perfect Picture HD technology, a Steady Video technology, Quick Stream, four people video chat capacity, and an engine for video compression.

AMD claims that a Trinity-powered hardware is cheaper than an Intel-powered system with its light and thin systems at a starting price of $699. The first batch of Trinity products shall include a pair of chips for supersleek laptops and three new APUs for those laptops on the mainstream. These products will be emerging in products from manufacturers such as Asus, Lenovo, Sony, Acer, HP, Samsung, and Toshiba.
