The Camera Extension app developed for the Nokia Lumia 900 adds a variety of features to the phone and this includes rapid multi-shot, self-timer, panorama mode and a smart group shot feature. The application is a separate program to be installed and once activated; user no longer needs to go to Camera additional features on their phone. Instead, user carries with the camera’s normal function and then goes to the Settings menu wherein the four (4) additional features can be found.

The rapid multi-shot feature enables the phone to do continuous shooting of up to eight (8) photos. Meanwhile, the self-timer comes in handy whenever taking family photos or group photos. With the camera extension, users would already be able to select panorama mode when taking stills (this mode allows the merger of five photos to give a panoramic view of the wide angle). The smart group shot feature seems to be the coolest as it allows user to take five pictures in five seconds and it also enables one to cut out the heads of people in the photo and swap them out (more like BlackBerry 10’s Timeline Lens).

No word yet on the release and availability. With the new app, we’re guessing that more and more Lumia 900 owners would be camera junkies.

Both models feature faster web browsing capacity through compressing web pages for faster downloads and cheaper prices. These phones are also dual-SIM so there’s no need to switch phones off for using another network. Other features of both phones include a 1.8” screen, a Bluetooth, a 64 mb internal memory which can be expanded with a micro-SD card up to 32 GB, a VGA camera, Java Games, a music player and up to 8 hours of talk time.

So one might ask, what’s the difference between the two? Well, the Nokia 110 model only weighs 80 g and is available in black, blue, green and fuchsia while the 112 model is slightly heavier at 86 g. and is available in grey, blue, white and red.

Other than the 110 model having smaller dimensions, buyers can be happy with either cheap but efficient phone. See video below for more details.

If you’ll browse this page under its ‘unlocked phones’ section, there’s the Nokia N9 sitting prettily at $599.99 sans any contract. Tagging along with the handset are other Android phones like LG Prime, Samsung Captivate i897, and Gravity 2. However, it’s noticeable the specs from the flyer is different with the official one announced by Espoo three months ago and instead of a 3.9-inch display, the retailer described it with a 4.3-inch display. And oh, it got the whole spelling for Meego wrong calling it “Mego”. Last but not the least, the screen for Nokia N9 utilizes a ClearBlack AMOLED similarly used for Nokia’s WP Lumia devices, but Fry’s got this one wrong again indicating “Super AMOLED” on the ad.

Just so you know, Nokia N9 is the one and only MeeGo device made by the company and was only revealed on South America, some parts of Europe and Asia but never in United States. In case Fry’s is speaking about the real deal and these mistakes are just typographical, interested customers can get N9 without having it imported to United States — thank God its unlocked.

The Nokia Drive in its 3rd incarnation now is such application that gives backseat driving a new meaning. Some things that make it better than any human trying to do the same thing are these features:

• It has heuristic capability – meaning it has the capacity to learn driving habits
• It is capable of giving real-time information on its home screen
• It can be programmed manually to adjust routes – it means it accepts correction (unlike some human counterparts)

The Nokia Transport on the other hand is now on its 2nd version. Features include letting users view transportation information based on their current location. These information include vehicle options, schedules and transfer infos. Its database of these information are available in 87 countries. Including advanced and faster search, the Nokia Transport 2.0 guarantees that no one will be left stranded or lost in any of these 87 countries.

Although motorists and passengers all over the world are eagerly anticipating the arrival of these useful handset applications, no word yet on a definite schedule although rumors hint that it won’t take weeks until they become available.

Apparently, what Microsoft will be offering is a $99 Xbox 360 and Kinect bundle that comes with a monthly payment plan. The scheme basically works the same as a mobile phone plan. With the Xbox subscription, user will be tied to a two (2) year contract. It also comes with corresponding penalties for early cancellation which we say is logical enough considering that the console retails for about $300. The good thing with the contract is that it comes with a warranty that covers the two (2) years.

This move by Microsoft implies that they are planning to make the Xbox 360 the choice for home entertainment (there’s stiff competition from Apple TV and Roku) aside from creating a niche in game console subscription.

As to when it will be made official, sources point out that Microsoft will make the announcement by next week. Once it pushes through, the plan can really be appealing to gamers, and would be gamers, wanting to have a piece of both Xbox 360 and Kinect. Sounds like a plan, well, what do you think?

Of course, owners of Lumia phones will not very happy with this, if the rumor was true. Everybody expects their smartphones to be able to adapt to future operating software. There is nothing more frustrating than getting stuck with a device that cannot be updated. The rumor is particularly upsetting, especially since the upcoming Apollo is said to have a fantastic set of new features, such as better resolutions, multi-core CPU compatibility and support, plus compatibility with the Skydrive and Xbox software.

At present, the Nokia Lumia phones that have been purchased so far by a great number of consumers are operating on the Mango platform. What is not certain is the possibility of the Mango being upgraded to Apollo. Still, in spite of further prodding and inquiries with Microsoft about the matter, no new information or clarification has been given at all. Stay tuned.

There is an alternative though, if anyone would not be bothered to download the aforementioned fix. That is to swap their units to any AT&T store between today and April 21st. Together with the $100 rebate on their phone bill, it’s hard to think of anyone not wanting to take advantage of the very generous offer.

However, if one cannot be bothered to go to the store, the software update can be downloaded through Zune (for PC owners) or Windows Phone 7 connector (for Mac users).

This might not be enough for some but it seems like Nokia wants to polish any dent this issue might have caused to the glorified handset’s reputation and the speed and scope that their effort has resolved the issue could very well make all those disgruntled owners forgive them.

It speaks of commitment and dedication to maintain good service; a rarity nowadays for some company where even begging for a software fix will lead to nothing.

If you happen to own one Lumia 900, do not panic as there is an identified “temporary” solution to the problem. According to some, the problem can be overcome by booting the phone without a SIM. After doing so, user needs to reinsert the SIM again. As mentioned earlier, this is not the total patch to hole so to speak as it does not really work for other Lumia users.

The problem has already been identified to be occurring in a number of Lumia 900’s. There was even a tip pointing that the problem is on the unique phone identifiers or IMEI’s wherein this was not correctly registering to the data network. No word was given yet by AT&T but a response on the issue is already being sought from the carrier.

Severity of the problem is still unclear at the moment and so we’ll have to wait from AT&T. We do hope that this resolves soon since it will have implications on both Nokia and Microsoft.
