Why Japan? Because the provider for the new Sharp Aquos SH-01D will be none other than NTT DoCoMo, Japan’s number one mobile service company. Nobody knows if the handset will be available outside of Japan, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed for an announcement. If you live in Japan, then you definitely want to keep an eye out for this 9.7mm-thin smartphone, because it’s definitely not just good-looking.

Everyone knows that the Japanese have a penchant for being ahead of the rest of the world when it comes to technology, and it’s not surprising that the SH-01D will be carrying some technologies that are widely available in Japan. It does stick to 3G instead of 4G, but it runs on Android Gingerbread, and no one will be surprised if an update to Ice Cream Sandwich will be made available as well.

This phone also offers a 4.5-inch, 1280 x 720 resolution display that makes use of 3D technology usually seen in cinemas- except no special glasses are needed. Its other features include a 12.1MP camera with HD capture capabilities, a standby time of 450 minutes, a 1GHz dual-core OMAP4430 CPU, microSDHC storage of 32GB, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and even a TV tuner. As per Sharp’s Aquos series, it’s also water-resistant, which definitely helps with liquid-related accidents.

There’s no word on the price tag on the Aquos SH-01D, but we don’t have to wait long to find out.

Sharp is raising the bar with introduction of new features in The Aquos 104SH starting with Android OS version 3.2 “Ice Cream Sandwich” with a Texas Instruments OMAP4460 dual-core 1.5GHz processor. It sports a 4.5-inch 1280 x 720 HD LCD display with Sharp’s exclusive Mobile ASV (Advanced Super View) technology makes it readable even in extreme circumstances. Users can record in full HD at 30fps with its 12.1 megapixel rear camera. It also has “Eco Tech” features to extend the handset’s battery life. All these are kept in a well designed casing making it dustproof and waterproof up to 10 feet!

Transfer data using Bluetooth 3.0 or Wi-Fi 802.11. Need for more speed? The Aquos 104SH is HSPA+ broadband capable so you get up to 21Mps downstream and 5.7Mps upstream data transfer rate. You could very well fill up the 2GB MicroSDHC memory card it ships with!

Aquos 104SH will be introduced in Japan by carrier Softbank come Spring 2012. The company has not released details on price, or when the phone will be available in other markets but it is known that the overseas version will be dual-band WCDMA/GSM 800/1800/1900GHz. Stay tuned.

Touted to be the world’s largest TV ever,the large flat panel TV sports an 80-inch display, surpassing that of 70-inch LC-70LE732U AQUOS LCD HDTV released early this year which sports a Quattron four color pixels and full LED backlighting. It is a Smart TV with a full HD 1080p X-Gen (1920 x 1080) panel and has a full LED backlighting and motion processing at 120Hz. For connectivity, it has a built-in WiFi and access to NetFlix, Vudu, CinemaNow and similar services including online support for AQUOS Advantage Live.

Sharp intends to deliver amazing and immersive viewing experiences to viewers with its sleek aesthetics featuring the four-inch screen depth and picture quality boosted by an array of LED backlighting to balance color and brightness all throughout the display. In watching fast-moving videos, the TV uses 120Hz Fine Motion Enhanced to remove motion and blur artifacts. The LED system also enables contrast ratio of 6,000,000:1.

The AQUOS Advantage Live makes it possible to configure TV setup and troubleshooting by remotely connecting the TV to the internet. Shipping starts in October for a hefty price of $5,499 with pre-orders already running in the background.

In addition, the handset has a 512MB of internal memory, 3.2-inch touch screen, powered b Android 2.2 Froyo, 480×320-pixel high-quality resolution, and holds up to 32GB storage capacity. The dimensions of this device are 4.7 inches in length, 2.4 inches wide and a thickness of 0.6-inch. It comes with a 3-megapixel camera and wide range of connectivity selection such as, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, SMS and MMS messaging.

However, there are a few disadvantages from Sharp FX Plus like, short span of the battery life and the 600MHz processor makes the whole gadget slow down. The side keyboard is also not that easy to use because it’s really flat, compared to other mobile keyboards. Nonetheless, it can access users to different Google application such as, Gmail, Google Talk, Google map, Youtube, Calendar, and voice navigation. It also hosts social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and Yellow Pages.

The Sharp FX plus handset will be free of charge in any WalMart stores with a 2-year contact or $350 off-contract. It will soon be heading to various AT&T outlets before the end of this month.

Android powered handsets are seen as a tough competition from Apple and other phone companies. And today, Sharp announced their latest 3D smartphone powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread known as, Aquos SH8298U. It include features like, 8-megapixel camera for photos and video usage, 4.2-inch glasses-free 3D panel (qHD 960×540 resolution), 2GB storage capacity for all your media files, 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 single-core processor, RAM up to 512-megabytes and poor 1240mAh battery.

In comparison with 2 of the leading 3D handsets, HTC Evo 3D and Optimus 3D, we can see that the SH8298U’s innards are just average. The latter’s only advantage is its higher dual 8MP cameras compare to the former’s 5MP rear shooter.

This device is very trendy and comes with two fun colors of red and white, users would have the chance to blend its gadget with the outfit their wearing. There is still no announcement if Sharp Aquos SH8298U will be available in the United States but we do know that it’s only intended for Softbank in Japan. There’s still no official word when this item will be released as well as the pricing.

Considered as Japan’s first Android ™ 3.2 by Sharp, the 12.9mm thick Galapagos slate also features the following: 5Mp / 2Mp cameras, front and back, respectively; microSD support; battery life of 7.5 hours, in a compact and lightweight body. Galaxy Tab 10.1 is slightly thicker than the Galapagos while the latter should maintain the middle ground in length when the 5.5-inch and 10.8-inch variants starts appearing at the later part of this year.

Galapagos also sports a WiFi (GP02) connectivity with a downstream of up to 42Mbps, Bluetooth wireless technology, a bunch of sensors, USB cable, memory card and headphone output. The 18W-power consumption is facilitated by a AC100 ~ 240V 50/60Hz Adapter Power and the built-in lithium-ion battery with a charging time of 2.5 hours. Major applications already integrated within are: Galapagos App for Tablet, Genius English-Japanese dictionary, AQUOS Remote, Movie Studio and McAfee VirusScan Mobile 30.

The new Sharp Galapagos A01SH is expected to hit Japanese stores at this month’s end, and other areas by yearend. There’s no hint as to price for the time being.

Apparently, a handset dubbed as “CDMA SHI12” received the FCC clearance. We’re not entirely sure about the identity of this handset until a couple of online digging. A Japanese site had posted that the same CDMA SHI12 passed bluetooth certification, and was none other than the Sharp Aquos IS12SH. This handset was previously released in Japan under KDDI (au by KDDI) network.

Again, it is not certain if the smartphone will be released in the US but if you’re interested in knowing its innards you can check below.

Technical info about this smartphone is scarce at the moment. We’ve seen a couple of Sharp Aquos handsets like the Aquos 007SH, a flip-type Android phone  capable of shooting “SLR-like” images and full HD video. Meanwhile, the Sharp Aquos SH-12C under NTT DoCoMo has the nearest resemblance with the reported Sharp Aquos SHI12. If that’s accurate, then we’re probably going to witness add-ons like SD card exapansion, WiFi Tethering, HDMI support, WiFi capability and so on.

The Sharp AQUOS LED TV technology isn’t new at all. In fact, we had seen a couple similar units last year. And one of its forefront features is the “Quattron Quad Pixel Technology”. In simple layman’s terms, it means that instead of going with the conventional Triple pixel structure of RGB (Red, Green and Blue respectively), they will add a fourth “pixel” / color, which is (Y) Yellow.

Sharp claims that by adding a fourth pixel in the bunch will produce “wonders” in terms of colors and image details. We cannot attest, however, if that is entirely true. CNET UK made a review (last year) about the LE820 LCD TV (which also possess the same Quattron Quad Pixel technology) and said that the addition of a 4th color pixel would be beneficial only for 3D TVs – which is not the case for LE820 nor LE830. Moreover, they saw no clear distinction between the Sharp LE820 and mainstream LED TVs.

Meanwhile, the new AQUOS LE830 line-up will have 60in, 52in, 46in and 40-inch display sizes to offer. Other specs include 120 Hz refresh rate, edge LED lighting and a built-in WiFi that is very helpful for movie junkies who like access to Netflix, VUDU and CinemaNow. Wireless video streaming is also supported by the LED TV via DLNA. Users will enjoy more realistic audio quality and videos with the LED TV’s (4) HDMI inputs. And, as a recipient of the 2011 EPA ENERGY STAR award, consumers will be assured that their LE830 unit will be energy/power efficient.

There is no more news about the specs in the press release so wait for when this device is out in Japan only on December 10. That’s right folks, seems the Japanese people treasure this so much that they won’t release this to the world. And it should be contained, since the price is a bit steep at ¥39,800 ($474) for the 5.5 inch model and ¥54,800 ($653) for the 10-inch model.

The game giant recently announced that 3D versions of their three iconic games will be pre-installed on Android Smartphones. So if you love playing “Resident Evil: Degeneration”, “Mega Man”, and “Ghosts ‘n Goblins: Gold Knights”, then you’re in for a pretty treat!

Players will get to play the well loved knights in Ghosts n’ Goblins and try to solve puzzles and complete challenging quests or play an action horror player and attempt to fight and kill zombies in the world of Resident Evil. These games will be basically included in Sharp’s GALAPAGOS Smartphones. The first ever phones to feature these 3D games will be Galapagos Softbank 003SH and 005SH.

Both Android phones will run on 1GHz Snapdragon Froyo along with its large 3D liquid crystal display. There’s even no need for special 3D glasses to be used while enjoying full blast of gaming excitement! Furthermore, the 003SH will have a built-in camera of 9.6 MP while 005SH will be using 8 MP. Plus, gamers will definitely love 003SH’s touchscreen slate.

Well, you have to keep your patience for a bit. The Galapagos 003SH is expected to be sold on mobile shops this coming December 2010 while 005SH will have to wait until February of 2011.
