True Crime has had a shaky history, with United Front Games taking over development after Activision disbanded the original development team, the reboot’s scheduled release being pushed back from 2010 to 2011, and then eventually being canceled on February 9, 2011. This was due to the publisher’s decision to work on online games instead, and that True Crime just would not be good enough to compete with other games of the open-world, sandbox genre, so it seemed like there would be no hope of getting the third True Crime installment.

Luckily, Square Enix London’s general manager noticed the game and decided that it was indeed good enough, and decided to buy the publishing rights, with UFG back as the developer. The game’s said to have an elaborate combat system, making use of martial arts moves and the environment to defeat several opponents at a time.

Marketing has just started with a live-action trailer, showing an undercover police officer named Wei fending off against members of the Sun On Yee triad in a club’s kitchen. Knowledge of Cantonese isn’t needed to view the trailer, as what little dialogue it has is in English. See the trailer below.

Hasbro is also trying to build up a franchise of Battleship for itself as well, if its partnership with Activision is any indicator. Together, they’re working on a video game version of Battleship. It still sounds a tad strange, but to clear things up a little, the video game will be based on the Battleship movie. How will this be done? By making use of the premise of the movie, set in the Hawaiian archipelago.

You’ll have control of elite demolitions specialist Cole Mathis as he attempts to command a US Navy fleet as they fight within a communications dead zone. The enemy of the game is the same as the movie’s, a race of aliens with enough technology and power to be able to fight on both land and sea. As such, you’ll need to rely heavily on strategy to win. The game also employs some first-person shooter scenes, so you’d better brush up on your FPS games to catch up with this one.

The Battleship movie will be arriving on May 18th, but there’s no word on the video game version just yet, but it will be for the PS3 and Xbox 360, with special versions for the Wii, DS and 3DS coming later on. See its recent teaser video below.

Elite is the gaming service developed by Beachhead Studios for Activision. The service provides two versions, namely, a free and a subscription version. The subscribing members of Elite must pay subscription fees to get various Elite freebies, which includes monthly DLCs.

The monthly DLCs will be available starting January up to September and totals 20 contents. The lucky Modern Warfare 3 fans who will first get the monthly DLCs are the Elite Premium members on Xbox Live. Elite Premium members of Xbox Live got the first installment last January in 2 contents, Liberation and Piazza.

Good news for the Elite members since Activision already announced that the DLC for February will be available to them on February 21. The February DLC is called “Overwatch“, which takes places on top of a construction site of New York building. The battle involves multiple attack angles and players take the risk of falling into the ground. Activision has also announced the DLC maps for March, called “Black Box”, “Black Ice” and “Negotiator”.

The DLCs will also be available for other platforms but after the exclusivity period for the Xbox Live members. Those cannot wait may pay $49.99 to be premium Elite members.

In relation to this, a new report has indicated that a new cloud type service can enable users to exchange content, including music and movies, among Windows Phone 8, Windows 8, and the latest Xbox. Xbox Live games will be made available for all three platforms. However, at present, the extent of compatibility and integration remains unknown.

The current Xbox makes use of an interface similar to the Windows 7.5 Mango as well as the Windows 8. It may seem that the company is seeking ways with which to incorporate all three products together, just as what Apple has successfully achieved. Meanwhile, while there have been reports indicating various names for the next-gen Xbox, many are still skeptical whether the next gen console for Microsoft will be called Xbox 8. Reportedly, it can be expected to be released in June 2013.

The initial announcement of Activision, owner of Radical Entertainment, said that the release of the much-awaited sequel to Prototype will be on April 24 for the PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. The announcement on the delay for the PC platform does not affect the release for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, which means that Prototype will be available on the original release date for the two gaming consoles. No reason was given for the delay, which was announced on the Facebook fanpage of the game.

A somewhat good news was made alongside the announcement on the delay of Prototype on the PC platform. The Radnet Edition of Prototype 2 on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 will have new 55 free pieces of content to be delivered for seven weeks until June 7. The 55 new contents will only require a one-time use code, and will include in-game events, challenges and avatar items. It will also have a dynamic theme, behind-the-scenes videos and a bonus mutation for main campaign of the game. Participants of the weekly games of Radnet will also get to unlock the ultimate shape-shifting reward, which is expected on March.

It’ll be an action, adventure, horror and puzzle platformer with a storyline focusing on a man trying to a traverse the US west coast. The apocalyptic game has pretty bleak visuals as it begins the story in British Columbia, Canada where people transformed into a homicidal automatons known as “shadows” due to a tragic disease infection.

The only uninfected being is Randall Wayne who is alone in his quest for survival. Players need to use their brains in solving the game’s labyrinth of puzzles and physics. It involves Randall laying traps to accessing weapons in the world of fear and paranoia. The player needs a lot of the few remaining strengths as well as cunning and intelligence to face the zombie horde using the environment, wits and weaponries. Basically, it focuses on the fears and horrors of surviving alone in a violent and animalistic world. Deadlight draws its experiences from Rambo: First Blood and Day of the Dead.

The story of Assassin’s Creed revolves around the three main characters of Desmond Miles, Altair ibn La-Ahad, and Ezio Auditore da Firenze. The gameplay is all about the experience of Desmond Miles, who came from a line of assassins, as he plays the other two characters of Altair and Ezio using Animus. Animus is a device used by Desmond to look into the memories of his ancestors. Stealth missions are played in old time settings, such as the Renaissance Period.

The last installment of the franchise, titled “Assassin’s Creed: Revelations” was released in the last quarter of 2011. Fresh from the release of the this fourth installment, CEO Yves Guillemot already made comments on what to expect with the series this year. According to the CEDO, there will be a “major” new entry. This was followed by rumors that the next setting of Assassin’s Creed is Egypt. An online quiz was also conducted to ask fans for their preference on the next installment. Allegedly, the survey resulted to various historical periods, such as Medieval China, the American Revolution, and Feudal Japan.

The latest rumor circulating is that the latest Assassin’s Creed will have a new protagonist and an American Revolution setting. This setting can give encounters with George Washington and battles with British Colonists. There were also hints as to the veracity of the rumors. Some said that in the VLC of the Brotherhood’s ‘Da Vinci Disappearance’ DLC, players were given coordinates to New York. In the Revelation installment, there was a featured globe seen over the United States.

The American Revolution setting remains a rumor until an official word is issued , which fans can expect on March 31, 2012.

Battlefield 3 was able to get positive reviews from fans and gamers. Gamers are also attracted to the game because of DICE’s promise for an “aggressive” DLC that will come with Battlefield 3. The DLC promise was fulfilled with Back to Karkland. However, while the Back to Karkland DLC proved to be a success, the same was already known and expected even before Battlefield 3 was released.

Gamers are now waiting for news on what is in store for upcoming Battlefield 3 DLCs. A rumor that recently circulated came from a youtube commentary of TheAustrianToast.

Allegedly, a source mentioned that an upcoming DLC from Battlefield 3 will be an “All-American”. An All-American DLC means additional maps of US cities such as New York, Miami, and San Francisco. The commentary later said that this is a great idea, which would likely come out in Summer.

However, this rumor was immediately downplayed as a hoax. A strong point against this rumor is that the source was not revealed. Some also said that additional US maps may not be possible considering the direction of Battlefield 3 is to remain within Middle East countries.

Lastly, this rumor may even counter what DICE previously said that future DLCs of Battlefield 3 will focus more on expansions, such as, new weapons, assignments and battle themes. Watch the video below.

Of course, having a cliffhanger for an ending, The Witcher was meant to have a sequel, and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings was released for the PC on May 17, 2011. However, CD Projekt RED and Microsoft aren’t done just yet, as they’re planning on an Xbox 360 release for this year, and the port will be carrying more content than the PC version such as cutscenes and missions, adding about 4 more hours of gameplay. However, the developers aren’t done just yet, and have plans to keep going with The Witcher 2 post-release, which may be DLC content or more patches like what CD Projekt RED had given to the PC.

What does this mean? This means that fans who don’t have enough power on their computers will still have a chance to experience the story of Geralt as he tries to investigate the identity of the assassins while keeping himself out of prison. As the game has several different endings, the decisions made at certain points will be important in getting a specific ending.

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings for the Xbox will be released on April 17, but the price of the game is still unknown.

Now, Bohemia made another batch of screenshots for the public to feast on, but this time we have more than just images of the game. According to the studio, Carrier Command is scheduled for release in the second quarter of the year, and is compatible with all major gaming platforms. By major platforms, they may mean the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, but exact information on this remains to be seen.

The original Carrier Command, developed by the now-defunct studio Realtime Games Software, was set in the future with the premise of colonizing an archipelago with two aircraft carriers. A terrorist organization takes control of the advanced carrier, leaving the player with the lesser carrier to colonize the islands before the rival does. The remake features the same premise, but this time the archipelago is on a planetoid named Taurus set in another solar system.

Gaea Mission also features real-time day/night cycles and weather changes. The game will force players to rely on strategy, as battle can take place in the air, and or sea, and each island taken can be used for only one purpose, either defense bases, mining or resource production, so thinking ahead will definitely help when playing the game.
