While everyone’s still celebrating a late April Fool’s prank for their buddies, the gamingsphere has just confirmed that the popular Cave Story of last 2004 will be back from action, and it will arrive in full 3D for the newly-fangled Nintendo 3DS handheld.
So the announcement was called by NIS America, in which they confirmed the long rumors about them developing a 3-D version of CS along with Nicalis.
According to NIS America Producer Jack Nilda, they feel great possibilities working with Nicalist. And he believes the fans of Cave Story 2D will be pleased with this “incarnation”. Should this game launched in the public market, it would be NISA’s first 3D title for all of its games.
For those who are unaware, Cave Story 3D will be about a sidescrolling game based from its previous version. It will leverage 3DS’s amazing stereoscopic display to introduce a whole new experience unlike nothing you’ve experienced with its 2D version. Again, its story follows when you wake up in a cave, not knowing anything before that, then you met a cute race of rabbit-looking creatures involving you to fight against an “old doctor”. As the game progresses, you’ll soon realize the world of your friends and your existence as well.
Expect puzzle solving, 3rd person POV, action-packed shooting scenes as you unravel the mystery of the Mimiga race. Expect Cave Story 3DS release date this summer arriving in Europe, and perhaps, in UK as well.
