Last October, we gave you news that Chrome will be able to beat Firefox in terms of users when we hit the holidays of this year. As of today, the reality finally happened and the whole leapfrog thing occured even earlier than a week compared to analysts’ calculations.
To make everything legit, the chart you’re seeing there came from Statcounter. According to the web analytics company, Google’s Chrome browser manage to pass Mozilla Firefox’s total number of users this month making it the second most popular browser – Internet Explorer still being at the top.
If you’ll check the chart, since Jan 2010, Big G’s browser is climbing steadily (represented by green) while Firefox appears to have hit its plateau and declines some user traffic since the beginning of this year. And for this month of December, you can see Chrome leapfrogs the Firefox browser like clockwork. Then again, Google still needs a lot of work if it plans to become the world’s number one browser as Internet Explorer holds 40% of the world’s internet market compared to Chrome’s 25.7% (Firefox at 25.2%) this month.
Still, you can see IE’s plot falling steadily while the second seeded browser shows no sign of any decline based on user traffic.
