Black Friday has ended but that doesn’t stop smart shoppers go online and look for other great bargains. Welcome Cyber Monday! The term Cyber Monday refers to the Monday immediately following Black Friday. It was a term invented by a division at shop.org to signify the time people go online and look for bargains and deals they didn’t get on Black Friday.
Cyber Monday is the time for online retailers to take advantage on deals online shoppers would probably buy. Also, more and more buyers are taking interest on purchasing promo items and deals on cyber monday to avoid stress, stampede and other related shop violence. We agree that it’s a smart move, would you like to “fight” over a 32” LCD against 5 persons or sit at the comfort of your home purchasing the same item online?
However, Cyber Monday shoppers should take caution because of online shop scammers proliferating in cyberspace. According to this video clip, there was an increase in internet scammers on 2009 compared with last year. There were shops which don’t exist before that popped out today.
Cyber Monday online shopping is a great and convenient way to search for more bargains and promo items. But as always, you have to think twice if the site you’re visiting is legit and established long enough. Additionally, we recommend the following things you can do to check the site’s integrity.
1. Check when the site was established
You can do this by visiting the “Who is” site. You can check the domain name of the online shop and know when it was established. Well known online shops have been existing for years while possible online shop scammers might be existing only for 1-3 months. In General, proceed with caution if you’re not familiar with the site’s brand name and if it’s too “young”.
2. Online Phishing sites
This one doesn’t happen during cyber mondays or black friday events. Today, the cyber world has literally millions of phishing sites flowing around and victimizing unsuspecting internet users. As we’ve said, take heed with online shops that are either too young, they could be potential Phishing sites that only want to get your credit card number. Another hint to look at is the spelling of items and other terms in the site. Phishing sites usually have incorrect spellings and too much grammatical errors.
3. Visit Scam forums
Cyber Monday Shoppers and other internet users should know popular internet or online scams nowadays. You can visit scam.com, it is a forum that tackles almost about everything about internet and online shopping scam around cyberspace. It is a great site you can use to share information if you’ve been victimized before or know other scams so you could avoid them.
4. Google for online shopping scams
Google is a great search engine serving billions of internet users around the world, try searching the domain name of the online shop offering cyber monday promo items i.e. “myshop.com scam”. Some people may have experienced bad transactions with the same shop and/or associate sites with it.
That’s it! beware of scrupulous and potential scam shops so you won’t get ripoff. Have a wonderful and enjoyable Cyber Monday shopping.
