It seems zombies are back. Word’s out that Deep Silver will be publishing a survival horror FPS game, the Dead Island. Techland is currently working on the game for PC, Xbox 360 and Play Station 3. It is a mix of a first-person shooter with the basic fundamentals of role-playing games.
Dead Island isn’t your typical shooting game, it highlights more on melee combat and it incorporates a storyline narrated clearly. It has been integrated with RPG elements such as leveling system and learning sets of skills. Stats and abilities can only be accessed as you progress through the game. This isn’t another shoot-to-kill game, as you kill zombies of various shapes and sizes using different items you pick up in the resort. You can choose whatever weapon to use as you go along the way.
The plot’s simple, you play the part of a guest who went to a hotel in some tropical island for vacation. Before you know it, half of the populace is out to devour you, and it becomes your goal to escape. There are multiple playable characters and up to 4 people can play the game. If you enjoy bashing the undead and you’d like to solve yet another mystery of zombies’ origin, give Dead Island a try. There’s no particular date as to when the game would hit the market, but the trailer does look pretty interesting.
