Dell has proven itself over the years with desktop and high-end laptop gadgets. However, now it will probably try to catch everybody’s attention with the upcoming release of its first ever smartphone in America – The Dell Aero. This smartphone is made possible in association with AT&T wireless and is tagged as “the lightest Android phone coming to the nation’s fastest 3G Network!”.
We’re contemplating what VZW are thinking right now after this statement (no bad intentions here). It seems that AT&T want to make a statement proving itself as the best contender in wireless and as a 3G provider. As good as the Dell Aero smartphone sounds, not a lot of info were squeezed from our sources. Although, full coverage of the Dell Aero will be unfolded in full color during the CTIA Wireless 2010 event.
Well, we have a few glimpse of what the Dell Aero would look like inside and out. First, this smartphone will be similar to the Dell mini 3i’s shell. The 3i is a China-only smartphone released by Dell last year in association with China mobile. The Dell Aero, however, will have more powerful specs under the hood.
Unlike its brother, the Dell Aero will be equipped with Wi-Fi capabilities to suit the needs of mobile surfer addicts. Both Dell and AT&T also provided a complete makeover of the smartphone’s UI making it more attractive and abandoning the traditional Android OS interface.
The Dell Aero will have a built-in 5MP camera with autofocus functions, has a large 3.5” nHD display screen with 360 x 640 pixel resolution w/ TFT capacitive touchscreen. Similar with Mini 3i, it will be equipped with expandable microSD slot with the addition of Wifi support, 3G, 2G Network capabilities, bluetooth and built-in GPS feature. For the video stream fanatics, the Dell Aero will have the Flash Lite support to cater your needs. Other entertainment add-ons like Java support, games, MP3 and HTML browsing will also be included.
Those are some information divulged by AT&T for the Dell Aero. No updates on the suggested retail price has been released yet. Some reports claim that the smartphone will be available by 2nd quarter of 2010.
