We are very excited to find out that Dell have released another member of its E-family series of laptops. And boy, we did expect to see more of the good stuff and more robust tech specifications from this top PC manufacturer. Luckily Dell didn’t let us down with the new Dell Latitude E6410 Notebook.
The new E-family member actually comes in 2 variations, the E6410 is the upgraded version of E6400 while the E6510 is the beefier image of E6500. The design of each laptops are not changed on the newer versions instead Dell focused under the hood. Dell upgraded key features of each laptops giving it power, flexibility and multi-diverse functionalities. For the new E-family versions, Dell introduced upgrades in areas of durability, security and mobile collaboration. We felt that it’s a good move for Dell since modern times call for more capable mobile gadgets.
The new E6410 still maintains high level of durability chassis and enclosure. The laptop is protected by Tri-Metal casing that undergo several crash tests. It also features a free-fall sensor on the motherboard that protects your system against accidental drops and it works even when the system is off.
Dell has upgraded the processors of E6410 from Intel Core 2 Duo to the new Core i5 & i7 series. Users will have the option to choose from several Windows 7 versions or Windows Vista. Display size is the same although features like Anti-Glare LED Display applicable to both 1280×800 and 1440×900 resolution screen was added. The memory is upgraded to DDR3 supporting 2 memory slots with capacity of up to 8GB. Primary Hard drive is upgraded to maximum of 500GB SATA 7400 RPM with free fall sensor on MB.
The new Latitude E6410 will be able to play HD movies with its Blu-Ray ROM drive and astounding NVIDIA 512MB gDDR3 graphic card. Wireless capability wasn’t completely change and still supports wired, wireless connectivity, broadband and GPS functions. On bluetooth news, E6410 laptop users will have the option to avail the new Bluetooth 3.0 technology.
Optional multimedia features from the previous latitude are now included in E6410 like webcam and digital microphone. Other functionalities can be seen on the specs list attached. The weight and overall dimension are similar with the older latitude series as well as the number of battery cells. We need to check however if the addition of blu-ray ROM will affect battery life of this laptop.
Also, we’re a little skeptical with the performance of E6410 in terms of HD movie playback. The cheaper Gateway multimedia laptop passed this test with flying colors. How about the Dell Latitude E6410 whose price tag set at 749 Pounds (1, 138 USD)? That we should find out next.
