Dell Smoke: Another Android Froyo Smartphone

Posted on 23 April 2010 by pinoytutorial

Dell is surely making a wave with its series of Android phones starting to make its way in the market. Another of its series is the Dell Smoke tagged as having the “non conforming style”. The new model is intended to cater corporate customers making it a handy business partner. It is also for users who have clear careers and defined life goals. Surely not only does it mean for showing off and sophistication but is more of dealing with the business world.

Dell Smoke is said to share almost similar specs with Dell Flash. However users will have different ways of data input on these phones. While Dell Flash has the typical touch screen of smart phones the Dell Smoke carries with it a candy bar QWERTY Keyboard. Also the latter sports a smaller and more different screen having a 2.8 inch QVGA display touch. Surely lesser viewing experience compared with flash’s 3.5 and Thunder’s 4.1. But like the Flash, its OS is also powered by  the new Android 2.2 / “Froyo” with Stage UI

High quality videos and graphics are provided by the 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and digital zoom. It is run by Qualcomms next gen MSM 7230 processor at 800 MHz. It features Quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE and Tri-band UMTS/HSPDA/HSUPA. The device has bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, WiFI allowing speed of 14.4 Mbps HSPA and 12mm dual microphones for noise cancellation, micro SD expansion up to 32 GB and is supported with Adobe Flash 10.1 player for full blast video streaming. It measures 59.8 mm x10.5mmx120mm.

The Android Phone is liked a Slim Blackberry mixed with Palm Pixi. It has an elegant portrait slider with a full QWERTY keyboard and pocketable enough making it accessible and ready on the go. Other features of Smoke includes proximity sensor, accelerometer, touch pad navigation for organizing stuffs, digital compass, and voice command/dial and document viewer for MS and PDF types.

Although Flash is considered to have better Operating System specifications it offers lower over-all specs unlike the other two Dell Android phones.

Dell Smoke is expected to appear in the second quarter of 2011 and the company promised to tag it with a low price probably to cover up the low specs. However, overall the smartphone still offers exciting surprises. Like the other Android phones it is expected to be dealt with AT & T.
