Just recently an early prototype of the Dell Thunder has made its appearance online. And apparently, the gadget website Engadget got a hands on video featuring a few engineering test units of the said device. The Dell Thunder video demo shows two different prototypes; one prototype which was running Android 1.6 and the other one running Android 2.1 but is expected to be upgraded to Android 2.2 upon its launch. The said video demo apparently presents some unique information as compared with what has been made known.

Both prototypes featured an unusual curve glass screens which makes it look more stunning and also gives a unique effect that distorts the picture at extreme angles. The panels for both prototypes are average LCDs but expected to move to an AMOLED screen when it ships.
It seems that the Dell Thunder could launch both on both GSM and CDMA carriers. There were some leaked information which revealed that the said smartphone will be launched with AT&T by the fourth quarter of the year. There were also other information giving a hint that a version of the Dell Thunder with AWS support will going to T-Mobile while a dual-phone version with Verizon. It looks like Dell is seriously trying to get as many carriers as possible.
Basically, the Dell Thunder comes with a pretty set of impressive specs. As rumored the Dell Thunder is expected to carry the following specs:
- 4.1 inches AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16M colors and a resolution of 480 X 800 pixels
- 512 MB ROM & 512 MB RAM
- 1 GHz Snapdragon Processor
- 8 MP camera with autofocus and 4x digital zoom and a bright single-LED flash
- 720p video capture
- 3.7 v 1400 mAh battery
- 3.5 mm headset jack
- Wi-Fi 802.11n
According to some reviews made on the two prototypes, the Dell Thunder has a strong similarity with the recently launched Dell Streak and expected to have a performance which is quite comparable to the Nexus One. But more changes are still expected since both prototypes were from April.
As rumored the Dell Thunder is expected to ship to AT&T within the fourth quarter of the year and its official price is still unannounced as of the moment.
