Gaming enthusiasts out there must be excited to hear that Blizzard is coming up with the third installment in the Diablo franchise called the Diablo 3. Basically, Diablo 3 is an upcoming dark fantasy and horror-themed action role-playing game from Blizzard. This game was first introduced back in 2008 and primarily focused on PCs and features elements of the hack and slash as well as dungeon roaming genres. But apparently, the upcoming action-packed RPG will come up with three new console positions upon its release. Console gamers must be really happy to hear this good news. However, the Diablo 3 community site made it clear that Blizzard is only coming up with a Diablo-related concept for consoles.
The Diablo 3 game takes place in the Sanctuary, which is the dark fantasy world of the Diablo series that was saved by some unnamed heroes in the previous version of this game, Diablo 2. Basically, it is similar in style to its predecessor. Its proprietary engine will incorporate Havok physics and will also feature destructible environments with the use of an in-game damage effect. Diablo 3 will also use a custom 3D game engine and will also have a multiplayer feature like in the Diablo 2.
Aside from these features mentioned, the Diablo 3 will also come with an enhanced quest system, a random level generator and a random encounter generator to ensure that the game will provide different experiences when replayed.
It would be very interesting to see what Blizzard has in mind with its upcoming Diablo 3. Blizzard believes that with a proper gameplay this game could be compatible with the console platform. However, this statement from Blizzard should not be considered an official console announcement and will not also have any effect on the release of its PC and Mac versions. It seems that Blizzard is really preparing something big with this upcoming game, as a matter of fact; they have come out with a newly posted ad that they are looking for a lead designer, a lead programmer and a senior producer for consoles.
The development of Diablo 3 started in 2001 at the time when Blizzard North was still operating. As of present, the game is being planned for a simultaneous release on both Windows and Mac OS platforms. However, it has no definite release date yet. So watch out for it.
