Here is some good news for the Doom series fans out there. This is the upcoming multi-platform installment from the said series entitled Doom 4. This game was developed by id Software and published by Bethesda Softworks. Apparently, this game is neither a sequel to Doom 3 nor a reboot of the franchise and will feature the company’s new id Tech 5 engine. There are some rumors that this game will look three times better than Rage as it runs at 30 frames-per-second on consoles Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 and will run at 60 frames-per-second in Windows platform.
Basically, there are some hints that like Doom 2, this upcoming game will be taking place on Earth and will feature a gameplay that more akin to the original Doom games rather than the horror styled gameplay that was featured in Doom 3. This game belongs to the first-person shooter game genre and will feature both single player and multiplayer mode.
Well, Rage designer named Matt Hooper strongly believes that a lot of Doom fans will surely be pleased with upcoming game since the development team behind this game is trying their best to make this game distinct from other first-person shooter games available nowadays. This is very possible considering the fact that a lot of talented and experience people are working on this game.
Hopper also made it clear that Doom 4 and Rage will be distinct from each other. And the Doom team has made sure that they are coming out with something that will be greatly appreciated by a lot of gamers out there especially those who have learned to love the Doom series. It is really interesting to see how this game will be different from Rage and what it has to offer.
It seems that the Doom team is really working very hard on this upcoming game, polishing every details of the game and avoiding making it look like a sequel to the Doom 3. There is no release date mentioned as of this moment, but the Doom 4 will apparently be released for various platforms like Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Windows. So watch out for more updates.
