We all share the excitement when Google’s superphone (Nexus One) was first officially leaked last December. The thing that makes us want to get it is because it was touted to be a global phone. Meaning, for the first time in the long history of mobile market, there will be a high-end phone that’s not only locked in the boundaries of USA, UK or Canada. This brought joy for the majority, especially in Asia where high-end smartphones seems to be in drought.
But that was the past.
Today, Motorola is set to take that momentous path by Google to reveal another superphone on a global scale. The Droid 2 Global is the same phone which was predicted before as the Droid Pro. But now that leaks are already spreading, it appears that the Droid 2 Global’s specifications is really something, even better than its predecessors.
So far the thing that make this special is the 1.2GHz Processor. Currently, the fastest processor if you will compare it to the latest phones of Motorola (Droid X, Droid Pro, Droid 2). It can access Verizon 3G network and other network carriers in Europe. We expect this one to be CDMA ready with a QUAD band-frequency available for any countries. As motorola touts in their page — Motorola Droid 2 Global will be available on 200 countries.
Droid 2 Global is on a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a bit similar to the Droid 2 form factor, in which Moto said it has this ‘improved touch screen technology’. Other goodies include a 5 megapixel camera with dual LED flash and autofocus. It will be running Android 2.2 (Froyo) upon its arrival and it will have a pre-installed Adobe Flash Player 10.1. WiFi and Bluetooth 2.1 ready. It has a MicroSD slot in which you can increase its storage capacity up to 32GB.
Pricing and availability is yet to be revealed. But you can expect that the price of this one will be at par or even higher than the Desire HD, considering its processor was beefed up to 1.2GHz. I can already see this Phone be launching on the early part of Q1 next year. Expect more leaks to arrive now this one has already been publicized over the blogosphere.
