On the same month in which Apple launch the much awaited iPhone 4, Motorola held a press conference to officially announce the launching of their newest product Droid X. This is Motorola’s latest product that is expected to be the toughest competitor of Apple’s iPhone 4. Will Droid X outshine the newly released iPhone 4? This question is still to be answered. This will surely be an exciting battle between the two flagship models of their respective companies.

If you have plans of buying one and still undecided unto which model between Droid X and iPhone 4 to purchase in the future, the following comparison between Droid X and iPhone 4 might help.
First in line is its processor, both Droid X and iPhone 4 runs on a 1GHz processor.
Second, when it comes to storage, Droid X has the edge over iPhone 4 because of its 8GB onboard memory plus a 16GB microSD card. It can support microSD card up to 32GB and even extendable up to 40GB. The iPhone’s storage capacity is limited only to 16 GB.
Third, when it comes to portability, Apple iPhone 4 has the advantage over Droid X with its 2.3 inches wide and 0.37 inches thick at a weight of only 4.8 oz.
Fourth, talking about connectivity, Droid X’s ability to act as hotspot for up to 5 WIFI devices and having a HDMI output port makes it a winner as compared with the iPhone 4 which doesn’t have this feature.
Next is battery life, Droid X has a slight edge because of its battery being removable ,also talk time is 8 hrs for Droid X while iPhone has 7 hrs talk time. However, when it comes to standby time, iPhone has 300 hrs while Droid X is just 220 hrs.
When it comes to camera, Droid X is said to be the winner because of its 8MP resolution as compared to Apple’s 5 MP. It has also a dual LED flash and a real shutter button. But when it comes to videoconferencing iPhone 4 wins because of its front-facing camera that is very good for video calls. With this we can say that it’s a tie between the two because both have a distinctive feature.
And last but not the least is with regards to display and resolution capacity. Motorola has a 4.3 inch screen which is definitely larger than iPhone 4’s 3.5 inch screen. But because of iPhone 4 having more pixels per inch in its Retina display, we can say that iPhone 4 wins in this category.

Whether iPhone 4 or Droid X wins this battle doesn’t really matter. What matters most is that the consumers who intend to buy these products will be satisfied and happy with their choice. Because of this competition between Apple and Motorola consumers have the assurance that they will always come up with a great product.

I can’t help but notice the lack of full feature list for the iPhone 4, and this is unbiased? 6 axis gyro motion, the camera is actually better on the iphone too, despite the 5mp limit. Its been tested, and the video quality is just better. Just sayin.
You do realize that in a 3 dimensional universe, there are only three points of axis rotation.
The iPhone 4 flash doesn’t work fully.
The iPhone 4 multitasking is basically fast app switching.
I’m on the preorder list for droid x!
I think he meant 6 degrees of freedom.
well if the droid supports flash, as rumoured, then i’d take it over the iphone any day!
iphone has something called frash which allows you to view flash in safari
Too bad, it’s still an iPhone.
Ok so who is the source that says 5mp camera is better that 8mp? It’s basically like this: Droid X is for for technical people that deal with computer and technology while iphone is more for the trendy type because it’s what people are used to but that will all change. I don’t have either but have used both. Droid X is big improvement from Droid and iphone 4 is cool. Being in IT, I’ll take the Droid X please.
Actually, the iPhone 4′s camera is better. Camera’s aren’t only about megapixels, you should really do some research. Mind you, I have a Droid X and LOVE IT, but I’m not gonna lie about it.
For now, maybe (that’s a big maybe in my opinion) the iphone 4 may have the better camera; my friend and some family members have the iphone 4, and the pics aren’t that great. The Froyo 2.2 update should improve the picture quality and camera UI on the Droid X, so I will reserve my judgment until then.
I wish you’d clarify things — please put the iPhone’s version of multitasking in quotes as it’s clearly not true multitasking on par with the Android version.
Apple’s version will be true multitasking when I can have my Google Reader app check for new items in the background …until then they only have “multitasking” or I guess in Apple-speak it’d be known as “magic multitasking”
I have been waiting for the X and for it to be used and put the the paces. I would probably be with the iPhone if it wasn’t for that network issue (I can’t imagine how many iphones would have sould if they had Verizon).
I have tried the X and was amazed. I have big hands have tried all the touch screens and the iPhone (and my iTouch) have been the only ones that work for me. But the X is great. Working with it less than 15 mins and was comfortable.
As far as pictures. I have read a lot about this. And have used the iPhone for pics. They still look like crappy cell phone pics. And didn’t see much difference in the X pics I took. Now video, that is a different story. The X blows the iPhone away.
Can not wait for the 2.2 update.
Final note, if BB had gotten it’s act together and released a decent browser for a functioning network I would till be a BB man. But because I am spending more and more time on the net with my phone I am having to say Bye Bye to BB.
to everyone saying that the iphone’s camera is better than the droid x’s camera, i would have to strongly disagree.. the iphone may have sharper images but the colors on the x seem truer to me. megapixels aside, i would choose the x over the iphone anyday.
The biggest and only real edge the iPhone has that I am disappointed is not on my Droid is Dual 3G access. How I wish that I can talk on the phone and browse the internet or other web apps at the same time!!
Other than that Android is better for me.
Oh and the Dual 3G is not a fault of Android it is a fault of Verizon. I would think that AT&T Android Phones can call and surf at the same time.
Grrr…it drives me nuts that so many people think the speed of a processor can be measured by clockspeed. The fact that two processors run at the same clockspeed doesn’t mean they’re anywhere close to one another as far as overall performance! Please stop comparing processors using clockspeed! It’s flat-out wrong!!!
On that same note, please stop rating digital cameras based on mega-pixels. Mega-pixels are cheap, good camera sensors are not. The number of mega-pixels only tells you how much data is returned from the camera subsystem…it tells you absolutely nothing about the quality of the pictures. A bad camera sensor the produces a lot of mega-pixels is just giving you a much larger bad picture. The only way to measure the quality of a digital camera is to look at the photos. I’ve seen more high-megapixel devices whose picture quality is put to shame by a good 3MP camera with a decent sensor and/or lens than I care to count. Mega-pixels mean nothing without the rest of the camera components being of high-quality.
Just did the comparison of Droid X and the iphone 4S, there is no way in this world that droid is droid is better than the 4S, no on camera, no on apps, no on feeling…… Iphone wins!
