Handset users who are still not accustomed to modern day touchscreen smartphones should consider going back in time. But of course, that isn’t possible. So, is there any way for them to get the old school numeric keypad and modern day technology? Well yes, thanks to the Smart Bar handset unveiled by eMobile.

The Smart Bar (S42HW) is manufactured by Huawei and sports a retro-style candy bar form complete with numeric keypad and, get this, a touch screen panel! The Smart Bar has a 311ppi, WVGA (800 x 480) 3-inch capacitive touchscreen display. Aside from those, the handset is pretty average. It is powered by Android Gingerbread and sports a low-end 800MHz Qualcomm MSM7227 processor.
Other technical details you should know includes a 512MB RAM, 512 MB ROM, 5 megapixel rear camera and microSD card support. For connectivity, the handset has W-CDMA support, GSM, HSPA, HSUPA, GPRS, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1 and built-in Infrared GPS. Tethering is also allowed up to 5 devices.
The eMobile Smart Bar reminds me of the candy bar styled from Sony Ericsson. We’re still baffled why the company decided to bring this line-up, but hey if there’s a market for it why not? Speaking of which, the old school handset will be available starting September 22 for ¥29,800 ($385) in the Land of the Rising Sun.
