The said companies have confirmed the occurrence of such incident and also confirmed that a lot of their customer’s personal information has been compromised. It seems that these companies become the subject of such attack because of using a service that is run by Dallas based company Epsilon. Well, for those who do not have any idea what Epsilon is all about, this is actually a company that deals with providing a wide array of data-driven multichannel marketing solutions.
In order to prevent the further occurrence of such incidents, most of the retailer companies that we have today sent notification e-mails to their customers warning them about the possible occurrence of the situation in the future. They have also given the assurance that the information obtained by those hackers were the first name, last name and e-mail address and no other more sensitive information has been compromised.
